Attention Claremont Student, Parent/Guardians,

Re: Revisions to the Semesters and Report Cards

On behalf of the Claremont staff, we appreciate your patience over the past few weeks.  Feedback from students, teachers, parents, and district staff during this time away has been helpful with plans for moving forward.  As we returned to our routines at school this week, the adjustment period we experience with this transition back to learning, teaching, and supporting our students is extremely important.

The grid below outlines some revisions to semesters one and two.  There will be adjustments with upcoming events/activities, and sufficient time for teachers to review student progress and prepare for a meaningful term one report card.

Maximizing instructional time and recouping missed learning days is a priority.  By postponing the November 22nd non-Instructional Day, extending semester one by five days, and converting two assessment days into instructional time, eight of the fourteen days missed during the strike will be recovered in an attempt to balance semesters.

Report cards will be prepared to reflect the progress of learning during term one.  The report card will include letter grades for Grade 9’s, letter grades plus percentages for Grade 10-12, and work habits for all students.  Comments will be required for those students not being successful in a course at this time. Other students may receive comments, but it is not required during this reporting period.  Claremont Administration will review all report cards and sign-off the copy that will go home on Tuesday, December 3rd.
