Toys 4 Teens – Dec 3-10

The 7th annual "Toys For Teens Donation Drive" runs Dec. 3-10. Claremont donates Gift Cards for Teens in Need in our community in support of The Zone 91.3's annual Toy Drive. Our donations are shared by numerous local agencies such as 1UP Single Parent Resource Centre, CFAX Santas Anonymous, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, The Mustard Seed and many more under the umbrella of "The Christmas Giving Network."

We are asking for $10 Gift Cards that Teens would like for: coffee shops, restaurants, music, grocery stores, drug stores, retail locations, bus passes, pre-paid credit cards, etc. Cash donations will also be accepted.  Students are encouraged to bring their donations to their Block 1 class (or the front office if they do not have a Block 1 class). The Block 1 class who donates the most gift cards will be invited to The Zone's wrap-up party at Mayfair Mall on December 13th at 9am to drop off the gift cards. Thank you for your support of this great cause and for sharing the Spartan Spirit. Happy Holidays!

Grade 9 Immunizations

Grade 9 parents: watch for immunization consent packages that will be sent home next week. Please discuss the information in the consent package and involve your child in the decision to provide consent to immunization. This should be used as an opportunity for adolescents to start making decisions about their own health. Immunizations will occur after the winter break.  Although a child may be immunized with the consent of a parent/guardian or representative, a grade 9 student can make an informed decision regarding immunization regardless of parental consent or refusal. This is referred to as “mature minor consent.”

More information is available at:

HealthlinkBC File #119 The Infants Act, Mature Minor Consent and Immunization.

A short video presentation on mature minor consent has been created for grade 9 students. It is available at: https://vimeo.com/231149258.

Contact the local Health Unit at 250-519-3490 to discuss further.
