GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spartan Day & Toonies for Terry

Thank you Spartans for making our Toonies For Terry campaign successful. Together we raised $1350 for the Terry Fox Foundation. It is a great day to be a Spartan.


Numeracy and Literacy Assessments – Sign Up This Week

This year’s first round of Grade 10 Literacy and Grade 10 Numeracy Assessments are scheduled to be written during the week of November 2-6. Completing these assessments is a graduation requirement.

Approximately 100 Grade 12 students are poised to write Numeracy 10 during Nov. 2-6. There is a sign-up list at the office for those students to choose their time slot.

As well, all students in Grade 10 Math and Grade 10 English classes from Q1 will write with their classes.


ATHLETICS

Senior Boys Volleyball

For Senior Boys interested in playing volleyball: this is a reminder that there is a training session TODAY at 3:15-4:45pm in the small gym. Please bring a mask and your permission form (if you haven't done so already).

UVic Info Sessions (Virtual)

UVic Student Recruitment has organized many upcoming virtual events for Students and Parents...

For example, Parent Nights will provide parents/guardians/supporters the opportunity to learn more about UVic. Attendees will enjoy a presentation by Dr. Lisa Surridge, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, with some helpful tips on being successful in post-secondary studies. The focus of the talk is helping parents (and students) navigate the transition from high school to university.

Student Transcript Service

Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website? You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service. Check out the information posters on the wall, just outside of the counselling office. http://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca


Grad Portraits: October 13-23

The portable Lifetouch photo studio is here, and grads have started getting their pictures taken. There is still time to book your session, and they are booking up fast (they are only here until Friday October 23). To book your appointment, please go to the Grad Portrait website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (but if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).

NEW Programs at the Upside Teen Centre (Saanich Commonwealth Place)

Reminder that there are FREE, registered drop-in style programs for older teens at the Upside Teen Centre. Youth can pre-register online or come to the centre at programs time and register in person!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor. To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.


Foundry Youth Clinic

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
