THE CHRONICLE

Monday November 9, 2020

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Stagecraft Class Today

Reminder to all Stagecraft students that we meet TODAY after school in the theatre.

Quarter Two Classes

Block 1 teachers will be distributing timetables for all students TODAY and TUESDAY. If the timetable is not accurate, students should email one of our counsellors for assistance. Mr. Pama: rpama@saanichschools.ca or Ms Giese: agiese@saanichschools.ca

New Quarter, New Cohorts – Nov 16

With Quarter 2 beginning Nov. 16, students will be experiencing a change of cohorts for their classes. The block one classes will be the new cohort for the following 10 weeks, running at full attendance for the first 5 weeks. Most block two classes will run at a reduced capacity, therefore the A/B group schedule will continue.

By this THURSDAY Nov. 12, students will receive an email from their Quarter 2 block 2 teacher to identify which rotation, group A or B, the students are scheduled to attend starting Monday Nov. 16th. Because some block two classes have a low enrolment or a larger classroom space, there will be some classes running with full attendance, thus some students will not need to worry about the A, B rotation.

End of Day Time Shift: Block 2 Ends At 3:15

Starting in Quarter 2, the 15 min of Connect & Support time for Block 2 will be shifted to the START of the block, rather than the end. Therefore, once lunch ends at 12:30pm, there will be 15min of Connect & Support time that will run from 12:30pm-12:45pm and Block 2 will then start at 12:45pm. Similarly, the official end of the school day will move from 3:00pm to 3:15pm, which helps shorten the time students wait for the bus after school.

Masks

Reminder that all students & staff must wear a mask in the hallways and washrooms.

Lest We Forget
Claremont will be holding a virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony at the start of Block 2 on TUESDAY Nov.10. We honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who served our country, and those who continue to serve, in order to preserve our Canadian values and freedoms. Thank you to the men and women of our Canadian military: the soldiers, medics, equipment technicians, pilots, support staff and peacekeepers. Lest we forget.

Poppies
from the Royal Canadian Legion are available in the Claremont main office. Please come by the office to pick up a poppy and make a donation for the Legion Poppy Fund. Wear a poppy proudly. Poppy funds raised assist Veterans and their families in need.

Grade 9 Immunizations – Forms Due Nov.12

Reminder for grade 9 students to please return their completed and signed immunization consent forms to the OFFICE by THIS THURSDAY November 12th. For questions or to discuss further, please contact the local Health Unit at 250-519-3490.

Tutoring Support

As we approach the end of this quarter, there are options open to all students who may want some extra tutoring help:

1) Connection & Support Time with your teacher (9:00-9:15 and 3:00-3:15).

2) After School Homework Club with Education Assistants on TUESDAYS and WEDNESDAYS 3:00-4:00 in room 235 (Math, English, Science or Social Studies).

3) Peer Tutoring with student volunteers (Math, English, Science or Social Studies). See Mrs Wadsworth in the Learning Commons to see if there is a Peer Tutor who could be paired with you.
