GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Vending Machines
For the good of minimizing health risks for all, the staff in the main office and the accounting office will be cutting back on the amount of change given out to students. If you plan to use the vending machines for snacks and drinks, please plan ahead and bring small or exact change. We will not be making change for $20 and $10 bills.
Morning Breaktime Food Service
Reminder that the Spartan Store is open for breakfast and snack service 10:00-11:00 every morning, with reasonably-priced hot drinks and morning treats. Cash or lunch cards only.
Breakfast Club - Thursdays
Claremont’s Breakfast Club is every THURSDAY morning at the Spartan Store. This FREE breakfast includes a bagel, spread, and juice. Breakfast will be served from 8:20 - 9:00 every THURSDAY MORNING for the remainder of the school year.
After School Homework Club
For all students who would like extra help in Math, English, Science or Social Studies: help from Education Assistants is available on TUESDAYS and WEDNESDAYS 3:00-4:00 after school in room 235 (computer lab). All students in all grades are welcome. Please wear a mask.
Peer Tutoring
Another avenue for students to get help with academic studies (Math, English, Science, and Social Studies) is to work with a Peer Tutor. We have volunteer Peer Tutors who are ready to be paired up with students asking for some extra help. If you are interested in having a Peer Tutor, please see Mrs. Wadsworth in the Learning Commons.
Claremont Spartan Masks For Sale
If students like the look and fit of the navy blue cloth masks they were issued at the start of the year, the very same masks (same quality & design, made by Stormtech) with the Claremont Spartan logo are for sale. They come in either black or navy. 2 for $15 at the Accounting office. These are great for students and parents!

There are so many virtual information sessions and events being offered by post-secondary institutions. The Saanich School District has a Careers page that is full of good information about various training and post-secondary opportunities. For the most current details about many virtual events being provided by universities and other post-secondary schools, make sure to visit the Saanich School District Career Education website, at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/. This site is updated continually.
GRAD 2021
Grad Portrait Retakes: Jan.18 & 19
If you missed out on getting your grad portraits taken in October (or if you were unhappy with your portraits), the Lifetouch portable studio will be returning to Claremont for two days only: January 18 & 19. Students can book an appointment by going on the Grad Portrait website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (but if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).
Student Transcript Service
Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website? You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service. Check out the information posters on the wall, just outside of the counselling office. http://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca

Social Media Awareness, Digital Footprints, and Cyberbullying:
Zoom Symposium for Parents of School-Age Children
Saanich Schools is co-hosting a Parent Information evening brought to us through Safer Schools: “Social Media Awareness, Digital Footprints, and Cyberbullying--For Parents/Guardians of School-Aged Students.” This virtual session will provide a snapshot of current Social Media trends and equip parents and guardians in their digital parenting strategy: Tuesday January 19, 6:00-8:00 pm, including Q&A. Registration is FREE, but participants must register to receive the Zoom link. Space is limited (all 3 local School Districts are involved); sign up early to reserve your spot. Peninsula Youth Clinic
Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor. To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.
Foundry Youth Clinic
Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
