GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Musical Theatre Performance: “We Will Rock You”

"The Show Must Go On" and Claremont's We Will Rock You will be streaming online 4 nights next week (March 3-6). You can buy a ticket to the stream at www.booktixlive.ca/portal/css for any of the shows.  There is also a link on the Claremont website..

This is a fun and futuristic musical, that features the songs of classic rock band QUEEN. Over 65 students in the cast, crew, and orchestra showcase their talents, and this show guarantees you'll be humming and clapping to the well-known songs of Queen.  Thank you for supporting the Musical Theatre program.

   

Girls’ Lacrosse Class: Quarter 4, Block 2

Students in the Girls' Lacrosse Class in Quarter 4, Block 2: please pop by the PE office at lunch or in block 2 to pick up your fee slip from Ms. Taylor, so you know what you owe for your clothing and equipment order.  Items should be here by the end of the week! 

 

2021-2022 Course Book

The digital Course Book for the 2021-2022 school year is posted on the Claremont website. Families can familiarize themselves with course offerings, specialty programs and pathways to graduation.

 

Course Selection Forms

Course selection forms were handed out to our current students on Monday and Tuesday this week in block 1. If students don’t have a block 1 class, they can pick up their course selection forms from the office.  

General Course Selection Forms are due back in the office by FRIDAY March 5.

CSI Application Forms are due back in the office on WEDNESDAY March 3 (attached to a Course Selection Form).

 

There is an information bulletin at the top of the Claremont website home page: “Apply Now: Programs of Choice and School Registration.”  Also, there is a Quick Link on the left margin of the Claremont home page.  In both places, you will find:

- Application Forms for the Programs of Choice (Claremont Sports Institute, Pursuit of Excellence, and Institute for Global Solutions)

- Course Selection Forms for all grades

- informative course selection video/slide show

 

Mid-Morning Breaktime Food Service

Reminder that the Spartan Store is open every morning for breakfast and snack service 10:00-11:00, with reasonably-priced hot drinks and morning treats. Cash or lunch cards only.

 

ATHLETICS

Field Hockey Players

Field Hockey has moved to THURSDAYS from 3:30 - 4:45 pm in the small gym.  Please let Ms. Taylor know if you can participate. Check your email for more information.

There are so many virtual information sessions and events being offered by post-secondary institutions.  The Saanich School District has a Careers page that is full of good information about various training and post-secondary opportunities. Bottle Drive - Feb.27

Save your empties!!!  Grad 2021 is having a bottle drive fundraiser on THIS SATURDAY Feb.27, 9:00am - 3:00pm.  Drop-off is in the Claremont student parking lot.  COVID protocols will be in place. Thank you for your support.

Spring Flower Baskets – deadline to order March 12

Hilltop Nursery is providing various flower baskets (annual mixes, begonias, strawberries, and tomatoes).  Order Forms have been handed out to all Grade 12 Students; they are also available on the Grad Page of the Claremont website

 

Purdy’s Easter Chocolates – deadline to order March 17

Order sweet Easter treats and support our Grads at the same time. The Purdy’s online marketplace shows you a detailed picture & information about each item. Details are on the on the Grad Page of the Claremont website. 

 

Student Transcript Service

Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website?  You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service.  Check out the information posters on the wall, just outside of the counselling office.  http://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca

Cordova Bay Fastball

2021 Season registration is open now until March 15th for Cordova Bay Fastball. Open for U19 boys & girls ($175).  Registration is online: www.CordovaBayFastball.ca

 

Programs at the Upside Teen Centre (Saanich Commonwealth Place)

Reminder that there are FREE, registered drop-in style programs for older teens at the Upside Teen Centre.  Youth can pre-register online or in person!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.  To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.

 

Foundry Youth Clinic

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
