GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Musical Theatre – Dress Rehearsal Today

Reminder to the full cast, crew and orchestra of “We Will Rock You” to meet in the theatre at 12:00 noon TODAY for your dress rehearsal.

 

Musical Theatre Performance: “We Will Rock You”

March 3-6 at 7pm

Claremont Musical Theatre presents: “We Will Rock You”.   Our show will be live-streaming 4 nights THIS WEEK (March 3-6). You can buy a ticket to the stream at www.booktixlive.ca/portal/css for any of the shows.  There is also a link on the Claremont website.

This is a fun and futuristic musical, that features the songs of classic rock band QUEEN. Over 65 students in the cast, crew, and orchestra showcase their talents, and this show guarantees you'll be humming and clapping to the well-known songs of Queen.  Thank you for supporting the Musical Theatre program.

  

Parent-Teacher Interviews: March 4

Quarter 3 Parent/Teacher Interview night is THIS THURSDAY March 4, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Parents/guardians can book an 8-minute appointment with teachers online through the link on our school website. Appointment bookings open tonight at 7pm.

March 4th will also be an early dismissal day for students (2:15).

 

Jersey Day: March 5

Our next theme day is THIS FRIDAY March 5: Jersey Day!!  Wear your favourite team or Spartan Jersey.

 

2021-2022 Course Book

The digital Course Book for the 2021-2022 school year is posted on the Claremont website. Families can familiarize themselves with course offerings, specialty programs and pathways to graduation.

 

Course Selection Forms

Reminder to students to complete and return your Course Selection Forms this week.  

General Course Selection Forms are due back in the office by FRIDAY March 5.

CSI Application Forms are due back in the office on WEDNESDAY March 3 (attached to a Course Selection Form).

 

There is an information bulletin at the top of the Claremont website home page called “Apply Now: Programs of Choice and School Registration.”  Also, there is a Quick Link on the left margin on the Claremont home page.  In both places, you will find:

- Application Forms for the Programs of Choice (Claremont Sports Institute, Pursuit of Excellence, and Institute for Global Solutions)

- Course Selection Forms for all grades

- informative course selection video/slide show

 

Mid-Morning Breaktime Food Service

Reminder that the Spartan Store is open every morning for breakfast and snack service 10:00-11:00, with reasonably-priced hot drinks and morning treats. Cash or lunch cards only.

Senior playoffs are MONDAY & WEDNESDAY.

CLUBS

Welcomers Club

The Welcomers Club is starting up again!  If you are feeling the need to meet new students and have some new social connection, please join us on MONDAYS at lunch in room 235.  TODAY is our first day. Come on by!!  There will be ping-pong, foosball, and good company. Everyone welcome.

 

Math Club

The Euclid Math Contest sign-up is posted outside room 133.

There are so many virtual information sessions and events being offered by post-secondary institutions.  The Saanich School District has a Careers page that is full of good information about various training and post-secondary opportunities. For the most current details about many virtual events being provided by universities and other post-secondary schools, make sure to visit the Saanich School District Career Education website, at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/.  This site is updated continually.

Bottle Drive - Feb.27

Thank you to our Claremont families, staff, and community for your donations to the Grad 2021 bottle drive fundraiser this past weekend. Your support is appreciated!

Spring Flower Baskets – deadline to order March 12

Hilltop Nursery is providing various flower baskets (annual mixes, begonias, strawberries, and tomatoes).  Order Forms have been handed out to all Grade 12 Students; they are also available on the Grad Page of the Claremont website

Purdy’s Easter Chocolates – deadline to order March 17

Order sweet Easter treats and support our Grads at the same time. The Purdy’s online marketplace shows you a detailed picture & information about each item. Details are on the on the Grad Page of the Claremont website. 

 

Student Transcript Service

Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website?  You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service.  Check out the information posters on the wall, just outside of the counselling office.  http://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca

Cordova Bay Fastball

2021 Season registration is open now until March 15th for Cordova Bay Fastball. Open for U19 boys & girls ($175).  Registration is online: www.CordovaBayFastball.ca

 

Programs at the Upside Teen Centre (Saanich Commonwealth Place)

Reminder that there are FREE, registered drop-in style programs for older teens at the Upside Teen Centre.  Youth can pre-register online or in person!

WEDNESDAYS  6-8pm: Games Night

Peninsula Youth Clinic

Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.  To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.

  

Foundry Youth Clinic

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
