GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Parent/Teacher Night: May 27

Q4 Parent/Teacher Night is THURSDAY May 27th.  This will also be an Early Dismissal Day (2:15pm).  Parent/Teacher interviews will operate between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., similar to the previous three quarters.

A “Pick-A-Time” link will be posted on the Claremont website soon. An appointment for a conversation with your child’s teacher can be made by following the link; the link will open at 7:00 a.m. this Thursday May 20th.  Each appointment booked will be an eight-minute phone call with their child’s teacher. Some staff may choose to go virtual and use TEAMs video for these conversations. 

 

Girls Lacrosse Class

Quarter 3 & 4 Girls' Lacrosse players, we will scrimmage after school THIS THURSDAY, May 20th.  Please have all your lacrosse equipment and your pinnie.  We will go from 3:30 - 4:45 or so.  The session will go longer if we have lots of players. 

 

Vending Machines

Reminder: for the good of minimizing health risks for all, the staff in the main office and the accounting office have cut back on the amount of change given out to students.  If you plan to use the vending machines for snacks and drinks, please plan ahead and bring small or exact change.  We will not be making change for $20 and $10 bills.

 

TEAC 105 - Sign up for next year!

If you're interested in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or Computer Science, consider signing up for Explorations in Technology (TEAC105) through Camosun College.  This program is open to grade 10, 11 or 12 students. Seats are available for both sessions (Sept 2021 and Feb 2022), but they fill up fast!  See Mr. Bussoli for more information.

 

Found

A hand-painted thermos and an Air Pod case cover were found in the school on Monday.  Please come to the office to claim them.

 

School Bus Registration for 2021-2022

School bus registration for next school year is now open until June 20th.  To register, you will need your Student #.  Registration link is on the Saanich School District website:  https://www.sd63.bc.ca/programs-and-services/transportation

 

30 Hours Work Experience or Volunteering 

Reminder to CLE/CLC students (especially Gr. 12s): When you have completed your           30 hours of Work Experience or Volunteering, ask your employer or volunteer coordinator to confirm your hours via email to Mrs. Watson (Career Centre) - <span lang="EN-US">cwatson@saanichschools.ca</span>

 

ATHLETICS

Intramurals: Spikeball

Unless rain gets in the way, Spikeball Intramurals will run TODAY and THURSDAY this week at lunch on the main field.  Next week games will be on TUESDAY to THURSDAY.  Playoffs will happen in the first week of June. Teams are listed on the main gym doors

 

CLUBS

Trivia Club

The Team Trivia Tournament begins TODAY at lunch!  Claremont's Administrators will be competing against two student teams: Yo Gaba Dibi and Superkai64. The match begins at 11:50 in Ms. Tong's room (323).

50/50 Draw

Smile Cards 

Another easy way to support the 2021 Grad class is to use a Thrifty Foods Smile Card for your grocery shopping. Thrifty Foods will donate an amount equal to 5% of the dollars you load on to your pre-assigned Smile Card to the 2021 Dry Grad. Smile Cards can be picked up at the Claremont office.

GRAD 2021

OnLine Courses Completion Deadline – May 31

Grads: If you are applying to university/college, make sure you have completed any online courses (SIDES, NIDES, etc) by May 31st. This deadline allows for sufficient time for coursework to be graded and final marks to be sent to the Ministry of Education, for your transcript. 

See your school counsellor if you have any questions.

 

Magic Wand Project

Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. Any student is eligible.

Student Transcript Service

Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website?  You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service.  Check out the information posters on the wall, just outside of the counselling office.  http://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca

Programs at the Upside Teen Centre (Saanich Commonwealth Place)

Reminder that there are FREE, registered drop-in style programs for older teens at the Upside Teen Centre.  Youth can pre-register online or in person!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.  To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.

  

Foundry Youth Clinic

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
