GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Musical Theatre

The first Musical Theatre class is TODAY after school in the theatre. Everyone welcome; you don't have to be registered. Come find out information about the course and this year's musical, The Wizard of Oz.

 

Cafeteria Service

Once the Cafeteria class is up and running, there will be a tasty selection of lunch meals and treats offered in the cafeteria.  For TODAY and FRIDAY, there will be pizza for sale at lunch.  $2.50 per slice. Cash only.

 

School Photo Days

Photo Day is TODAY for all grades!!!  Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken later).  In approximately 3-4 weeks, Lifetouch will send us I.D. cards and a proof package for every student, with information of how photos can be ordered.

 

Return Forms

Reminder for students to please return their forms to their Homeroom teacher.  These include Student Information Verification Forms and locker selection forms.

 

Lockers/Locks

Students who need a lock for their locker, please see Ms Marshall in the Accounting office.

 

Course Changes

It is our hope that there will be minimal changes with student timetables. Those wishing any changes to their timetable must have this completed prior to the end of TOMORROW (Friday).  We ask that all course change requests are made by filling out the course change form (on the back of every student timetable) and submitting it to the office.

 

If Your Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca or 250-658-6666.

 

Masks

Reminder that masks are a requirement in the school and we hope that every student will bring a mask to school every day for their personal use.

 

Student Parking

For students wishing to park in the student parking lot: permission forms are in the Accounting office.  

 

ATHLETICS

Fall Sports

Claremont is gearing up for Fall Sports.  If you cannot attend the first meeting or tryout for your sport of choice, please contact the appropriate coach.

Rowing (Mr Sedun)- meeting FRIDAY, Sept 10 at lunch in the main gym (all grades/male and female welcome).

Cross Country (Mr Nelson/Mr Dunlop) - meeting FRIDAY, Sept 10 at lunch in room 137 (all grades/male and female welcome).

Field Hockey (Ms. Taylor) – meeting MONDAY, Sept 13 at lunch in main gym for all gr 9-12.

Jr Girls Volleyball (Mr Freeburn) - first tryout this FRIDAY, Sept 10 at 3:15 in the main gym.

Jr Boys Volleyball (TBA) - listen for announcements

Sr Girls Volleyball (Mr Freeburn/Mr Waller) - first tryout will be next week; please listen for announcements.

Sr Boys Volleyball (Mr Ryan, Ms. Heppell, Mr Quested) - first tryout TODAY (Thursday) at 3:15 in main gym.

Jr Boys Soccer (Mr Jacques & Mr Mitchell):

MONDAY Sept 13, 3:30-5:00,

THURSDAY Sept. 16, 3:45-5:00

MONDAY Sept 20 3:30-5:00.

Sr Boys Soccer (Ms. Yager) - meeting WEDNESDAY Sept 15 at lunch in the main gym. First tryout THURSDAY Sept 16.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Important SISP Meeting – Friday Sept 10

For all NEW International students: there is a meeting on FRIDAY at lunch in room 264 (IGS room) with Kristen Belusic, the SISP Homestay Coordinator. This is an important meeting.

 

GRAD 2022

Grad Pinnies

Grads: you can buy a Pinnie TODAY and FRIDAY at lunch in the Student Lounge. $25. Please bring CASH or CHEQUE ONLY!

 

Grad Executive

The first Grad Executive meeting of the year will be TUESDAY Sept 14 at lunch in room 200. Check the Grad Google Classroom for more info on what Grad Exec does.

 

CAREER CENTRE

Pender Island Fire Camp – apply by Sept 15

Pender Island Fire Camp is scheduled to take place during Spring Break 2022!  Application deadline is September 15th - this is coming right up, so see Mr. Bussoli if you are interested. For more info about the camp, visit http://www.cadetcamp.ca/

 

Post Secondary BC (PSBC) Fall Virtual Fairs

PSBC is a consortium of primarily public post-secondary institutions in BC, who provide information you need to help make the best education decisions.

Virtual Fairs for students & parents:

-       Seven dates, open to everyone across the province, with each fair open for 10 hours.

-       Presentations (live or pre-recorded) up to six times daily (# will vary by institution)

-       Live text & video chat available with institutional representatives

-       Multiple “door prizes” will be awarded to student participants after each event

The Canadian Universities Event (CUE) is a forum designed to highlight Canada’s universities to BC’s secondary school students and families. CUE brings together over 50 of Canada’s finest post-secondary institutions and showcases them over two weeks in September & October. We are committed to helping students find their perfect fit in Canadian post-secondary education.
