GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

THURSDAY Sept 23: Early Closure & Meet the Teacher Night

Classes will be shortened and dismissal is at 2:16 for staff to prepare for Meet the Teacher Night on THURSDAY Sept 23:

Block 1   9:00 - 10:06

Block 2   10:10 - 11:20

Lunch     11:20 - 12:00

Block 3   12:00 - 1:06

Block 4   1:06 – 2:16

Grad Diplomas for 2021 Grads

Parents:  if you have an older child who graduated in June 2021, their Dogwood Graduation Diplomas are available in the office for pickup.  Younger siblings are welcome to pick them up.

 

Parents: Online Fee Payment System

Our new and secure online fee payment system is now active. Just a reminder if you haven’t paid your fees yet to please sign up for an account and pay online. Please see the district website here https://www.sd63.bc.ca/parents-students/pay-school-fees-online

Online payments will help us all reduce time, money and paper waste!  If you are a parent who has multiple children at multiple schools, they will all appear together under your online payment parent account. The on-line payment option is also available on the Claremont Website under the "Parents" tab. Spartan Store Breakfast & Lunch Service

Breakfast: The Spartan Store is open for breakfast Monday–Thursday mornings 8:30 - 8:55 serving wraps, hash browns, smoothies, muffins, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Lunch: OPENING TODAY, the Spartan Store is open Monday–Thursday at lunch serving a make-your-own salad bar, featuring greens harvested from our very own school garden and a variety of toppings!.  All food service is by cash or punch card only. $5 and $10 punch cards can be purchased from the Accounting office.

 

Lunch at the Cafeteria

The cafeteria lunch program is now up and running with a varied menu of sandwiches, wraps, soups, noodle dishes, drinks, and sweets. Cash or punch card only. $5 and $10 punch cards can be purchased from the Accounting office.

 

Lost & Found

A cell phone was found in computer lab 236 at the end of yesterday.  Please come to the office to claim it.

A few girls’ rings and a dainty necklace have also been found and can be claimed at the office.

  

ATHLETICS

Fall Sports

Claremont’s Fall sports are under way.  If students have any questions, they are asked to contact the appropriate coach or Mr Reisig (usually found in the PE office).  You can also check out claremontathletics.ca for more information!

Aquatics (Mrs. Marshall) – first meeting for the Claremont Swim Team is TODAY at lunch in room 324.

Field Hockey For all new and returning Field Hockey players, please attend 2 short meetings TODAY and TOMORROW at the beginning of lunch in the big gym. Our first 2 practices are also TODAY and TOMORROW at Lochside Park Turf at 3:30pm.

 

CLUBS

Math Club

This year the AMC10 and AMC12 math contests will be written in November instead of February.  Registration for these two contests will take place THIS WEEK.  You can sign up by adding your name to the list on the bulletin board outside room 133.  You could also join the Math Club Google Classroom to access all the announcements and resources directly.  The code is on the bulletin board outside room 133.  See Mr. Skanks in room 130 if you have any questions.

Post Secondary Info Sessions - Are you interested?

Grade 11/12 students, please email Cammie Watson (Career Centre clerical) or come by her office if you are interested in virtual or in-person info sessions hosted by post-secondary school advisors. cwatson@saanichschools.ca - Room 222.

UVic, UCalgary, and Bishop'sU have already contacted Claremont staff about possible info sessions/visits.

Alternatively, you can go to specific school websites to contact the student advisor, and/or go to the Saanich Career Education website (https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/) for current info.

  

Pender Island Fire Camp – Deadline to apply is TODAY

Post Secondary BC (PSBC) Fall Virtual Fairs

PSBC is a consortium of primarily public post-secondary institutions in BC, who provide information you need to help make the best education decisions.

Virtual Fairs for students & parents:

-       Seven dates, open to everyone across the province, with each fair open for 10 hours.

-       Presentations (live or pre-recorded) up to six times daily (# will vary by institution)

-       Live text & video chat available with institutional representatives

-       Multiple “door prizes” will be awarded to student participants after each event

The Canadian Universities Event (CUE) is a forum designed to highlight Canada’s universities to BC’s secondary school students and families. CUE brings together over 50 of Canada’s finest post-secondary institutions and showcases them over two weeks in September & October. We are committed to helping students find their perfect fit in Canadian post-secondary education.
