Spartan
Wear – Orders Due Oct. 29
Spartan Wear is now on sale!! If you would like to buy a Claremont Spartan hoodie, t-shirt, sweat pants, or lanyard, please pick up an order form from the Accounting Office. All sales are pre-order only. Deadline for orders is FRIDAY Oct. 29 to Ms. Marshall in the Accounting office.
Student I.D. Cards and Photo Packages
If you missed picking up your student I.D. card and photo package last week, they can be picked up in the office. Pictures can be ordered by going online to mylifetouch.ca, with Picture Day Retake ID: QV011971QP, plus the student-specific ID and Access code that is inside the photo package.
Photo Retakes – Oct 28
If you missed getting your school photo taken at the start of September, Photo Retake Day is THURSDAY morning, Oct 28. Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken). If you want to replace the September photo, students must return their full photo package + Student ID card to the photographer on Photo Retake Day.

Two pencil cases (one is green, one is blue) were found in the school and can be claimed at the office.
Lunch at the Cafeteria
The cafeteria lunch program offers a varied menu of sandwiches, wraps, soups, noodle dishes, drinks, and sweets. Cash or punch card only. $5 and $10 punch cards can be purchased from the Accounting office.
Spartan Store Breakfast & Lunch Service
Breakfast: The Spartan Store offers breakfast treats Monday–Thursday mornings 8:30 - 8:55 serving wraps, hash browns, smoothies, muffins, coffee, and hot chocolate.
Lunch Salad Bar: The Spartan Store is open Monday–Thursday at lunch serving a make-your-own salad bar, featuring greens harvested from our very own school garden and a variety of toppings! Cash or punch card only. $5 and $10 punch cards can be purchased from the Accounting office.
Grad Diplomas for 2021 Grads
Parents: if you have an older child who graduated in June ‘21, their Dogwood Graduation Diplomas are available in the office for pickup. Younger siblings are welcome to pick them up.

Cross Country
Congratulations to all members of the Cross Country Team that endured the rain at UVIC yesterday. Special shout out to Thea DAMIAN for winning the Junior Girls race! Congrats also to Aidan LAVERY who finished 3rd in the Senior Boys race, Mira CALDER who finished 8th in the Senior Girls race, and Oliver BOSS who finished 11th in the Junior Boys race. Next up is the Island Championships next Wednesday at Beaver Lake.

Spirit Club – Flannel Friday Oct.15
TODAY is Flannel Friday! It is great to see so much cozy flannel on this chilly Fridayl! Remember to bring your own mug to the lounge at lunch for free hot chocolate!
Math Club
Sign up TODAY for the Canadian Open Math Challenge on the board outside room 133. FYI this contest is used by UBC to help them make some of their scholarship decisions for next fall. For more info see Mr. Skanks or join the Math Club Google Classroom (code is on the board outside rm 133)

Best Buddies
Are you looking for a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity!? Best Buddies is an international organization that brings students with and without intellectual disabilities together for social activities. This social club provides training and mentorship. An information session will be held this coming MONDAY (Oct 18) at lunch in room 203.

Parks Canada, in Coastal BC, has employment opportunities for this fall and winter for youth as Student Promotions Social Media Assistants. Duties include: writing social media content, monitoring social media trends, researching materials and gathering information to develop social media campaigns, photography and videography, assisting with the image library inventory and filing systems, and more. Students age 15 and older can apply. Applications due October 29.
Volunteer Opportunity
Red Cedar Café is a not-for-profit community meal program, fueled by volunteers and mutual aid to provide healthy and affordable meals to seniors, people in self-isolation, and people in need. They operate out of a commercial kitchen and distribution centre. They are looking for volunteers to help with prep cooking, packaging, dishwashing, cleaning and meal delivery. NEW Education Assistant & Community Support Program
Are you in Grade 12? Interested in the field of Education? Saanich School District, in partnership with Vancouver Island University, is offering a NEW CAREER PROGRAM: Educational Assistant and Community Support Certificate. This is a 7-month full-time program, starting in February 2022. This is a DUAL CREDIT program sponsored by the district, so tuition is paid for! This is a fabulous opportunity! NEWS FROM CLAREMONT PAC
The next Claremont Parent Advisory Council (CPAC) meeting is TUESDAY, October19 starting @ 7pm. All parents are invited to attend virtually through MS Teams. We will extend the invite to parents who joined us last month; for any other parents who wish to join us, please sign up ahead of time, through this link: CPAC Meeting. An MS Teams Invite will be issued in advance of the meeting. We will hear an update from the Administration and a few other items on the agenda.
CPAC is also looking for a parent volunteer with a Finance/Accounting background who can job shadow with our CPAC Treasurer. This is a future role we hope to fill for the 2022/23 school year.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
