GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Waterloo Programming Contest

If you’re interested in entering the Waterloo Programming Contest, please see Mr Beeston at lunch in room 236 BEFORE WEDNESDAY.

 

Bus Cards

If you are registered to ride the school bus, and you have not picked up your bus card yet, please come to the office to pick them up.  The bus drivers are now expecting students to show their bus cards to ride the school bus.

 

Spartan Wear – Orders Due Oct. 29

Spartan Wear is on sale!!  If you would like to buy a Claremont Spartan hoodie, t-shirt, sweat pants, or lanyard, please pick up an order form from the main office or the Accounting office.  All sales are pre-order only. Deadline for orders is THIS FRIDAY Oct. 29 to Ms. Marshall in the Accounting office. 

 

Photo Retakes – Oct 28

If you missed getting your school photo taken at the start of September, Photo Retake Day is THIS THURSDAY morning, Oct 28. Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken). If you want to replace the September photo, students must return their full photo package + Student ID card to the photographer on Photo Retake Day.

 

Found

A pair of eye glasses were found in the theatre, and a small change purse (with money) was found in the school. Please come to the office to claim them.

 

Lunch at the Cafeteria

The cafeteria lunch program offers a varied menu of sandwiches, wraps, soups, noodle dishes, drinks, and sweets. Cash or punch card only. $5 and $10 punch cards can be purchased from the Accounting office.

 

Spartan Store Breakfast & Lunch Service

Breakfast: The Spartan Store offers breakfast treats Monday–Thursday mornings 8:30 - 8:55 serving wraps, hash browns, smoothies, muffins, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Lunch Salad Bar: The Spartan Store is open Monday–Thursday at lunch serving a make-your-own salad bar, featuring greens harvested from our very own school garden and a variety of toppings!  Cash or punch card only. $5 and $10 punch cards can be purchased from the Accounting office.

 

Grad Diplomas for 2021 Grads

Parents: if you have an older child who graduated in June ‘21, their Dogwood Graduation Diplomas are available in the office for pickup.  Younger siblings are welcome to pick them up.

 

ATHLETICS – GO SPARTANS!!!

Sr Boys Volleyball

The Claremont Sr Boys Volleyball Team (#8 in BC - AAA) competed in the Argyle/Capilano College 24 Team tournament this past weekend in North Vancouver.  10 of the top 15 AAA and 5 of the top AA teams were there.  The Spartans were undefeated in pool play and did not give up a set loss in the playoffs defeating three higher ranked teams, including #2 BC ranked, Elgin Park in final.  Go Spartans!

 

Junior Boys Basketball

For all Grade 9 & 10 boys interested in playing Junior Boys Basketball this year, there will be an important first meeting at lunch TODAY (12noon) in the Small Gym - please spread the word.  That’s all Jr Boys interested in playing basketball this year, please go to the small gym for 12noon today!

 

Senior Boys Basketball

For anyone interested in playing Senior Boys Basketball this year, there is an important meeting THIS WEDNESEDAY at lunch in the Big Gym. Please see Mr. Dunlop if you cannot make it.

 

CLUBS

Welcomer's Club

Welcomer's Club is starting THIS TUESDAY (tomorrow) at the start of lunch in room 235.  All students looking to meet new people in the building and have a nice place to be at lunch on Tuesdays are welcome to join--we have great games!! Please bring your lunch and see Ms. Huber or Ms. Giese for any questions.

 

Math Club

Math Club meets TODAY after school in room 130.  We will continue to prep for the COMC (which will be written Thursday morning at 9am in room 323).

 

Spirit Club:  Hallo-Week

Spirit Club has lots of fun planned for this week to spook into the spirit of Halloween.

TODAY & TUESDAY lunchtime movie in the theatre: “Nightmare Before Christmas”

WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY lunchtime movie in the theatre: “Ghost Busters”

MONDAY-WEDNESDAY at lunch in the student lounge: Candy Grams can be purchased for your friends for $1 each.  Candy Grams will be delivered on FRIDAY in Block 2.

TODAY’s dress-up theme is Cozy Day – TODAY’s blustery day is the perfect day to be wearing something warm and cozy!

WEDNESDAY Dress-up theme is Black & Orange Day.

FRIDAY is our Costume Contest.  Get your photo taken and vote for your favourite costume on our Instagram @ClaremontSD63.  If you are wearing a costume, grab a free hot chocolate or apple cider in the student lounge at lunch time.

GRAD 2022

Grad Assembly – Oct.26

For all grade 12 students: the first graduation-specific assembly of the year is TOMORROW (Tuesday) in block 3 in the theatre. This is an informative assembly and your attendance is important.


Grade 12 Parent/Guardian Meeting: All Things Grad - Oct. 28

Claremont Administration and Counsellors will present on a range of topics including diploma verifications, Literacy 12 Provincial Assessments, scholarship information, Grad Executive updates, what will grad look like in June, etc … This will be an in-person presentation for the first 175 guests who sign-up using this Form (total capacity of the space is 350 guests). In accordance with public health regulations, please ensure you wear a mask and are healthy for this presentation. We would kindly request that only one parent per family attend. If you are unable to attend, we will film this presentation then post it on our YouTube.

THURSDAY Oct 28th @ 7:00 pm in the Ridge Theatre.

 

Grad Parent Planning Committee

The first TUESDAY of every month will be dedicated to the Grad Parent Planning Committee.  The first meeting is set for TUESDAY November 2nd at 7:00 pm.  All parents/guardians welcome. More details to follow.

 

Magic Wand Project

Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
