Keating PAC and COPACs has kindly shared the below information including a link to a 10 minute video and resources regarding Food Literacy developed with youth and educators in our area.

This video and educational package are for middle and high school students to learn about food insecurity and food justice based solutions.  Many people around us every day, our friends, our family, our neighbours go hungry or worry about not having enough food. It is important for all of us to be aware that children/youth are impacted, and may experience fatigue, stress, reduced capacity to learn and focus, distraction, and have a hard time at school when hungry or not eating well.

Many more people are experiencing food insecurity since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and now is the time for students to better understand this issue and realize that there are things that can be done to support people to get food now and work to make changes so that fewer people are hungry and worry about going hungry in our communities in the future.

We invite you to review and share this resource.  The resources can be accessed online at http://www.crfair.ca/food-literacy

Youth, educators, and community food leaders came together to develop the Food Security Connections Video and Educator Resource as a collaborative project of the Food Literacy Working Group of the Good Food Network and the Capital Region Food and Agriculture Initiatives Roundtable (CRFAIR).
