Photos (RETAKES) Are Here
The batch of RETAKE photos have arrived! If you had your school photo taken on Retake Day, please come pick yours up in the office. As mentioned before, there are still many photo packages to pick up from the original Photo Day too!
Bus Cards
There are 130 bus cards still in the office, waiting to be picked up for students who are registered to ride the bus. The bus drivers are now expecting students to show their bus cards to ride the school bus.
Grad Diplomas for 2021 Grads
Parents: if you have an older child who graduated in June ‘21, their Dogwood Graduation Diplomas are available in the office for pickup. Younger siblings are welcome to pick them up.

Jr Girls Volleyball
Claremont’s Jr Girls Volleyball Team hosted a fantastic 2021 Island Championships this past weekend. The girls were dominant throughout pool play, knocking off Gulf Islands Secondary (25-4, 25-4) and Nanaimo Christian (25-14, 25-23) in front of a packed house on Friday, capturing top spot in Pool A.
Saturday was where the girls shined. Claremont met NDSS in the quarter-final, who were the top seed from the North and defending champions; Claremont bested them in 2 sets. In the semi-final, Claremont faced-off against Carihi Secondary from Campbell River. After a close first set, Claremont won in 2. With an appearance in the finals guaranteed, Claremont watched the Belmont Bulldogs - widely considered an underdog - defeat team after team, including finals-favorite Dover Bay en route to a date with the Spartans. After watching Belmont shock team after team, the Spartan Girls stayed poised and collected, and in front of a roaring gym, they captured their 2nd Island Championships in 3 years. Avery KERR, Robbyn GRAHAM, and Iva KALABRIC all earned Tournament All-Star Awards, while Madeline MARK captured our Tournament MVP honors.
Sr Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to the Sr Boys Volleyball Team who went undefeated in the Lower Island AAA championships. In the playoffs, your Spartans defeated Spectrum, then Oak Bay and Reynolds in the final. All wins were in two straight sets.
TONIGHT the Sr. Boys play in the Judy Bourne Cup in the battle of the best AAA Team - Claremont (ranked 3rd in BC) takes on the Best AA Team - PCS (ranked 2nd in BC). The match starts at 6pm in the big gym. Come out and support your Spartans in their last home game is the season!!
Junior Girls Basketball
The last tryout for the Junior Girls' Basketball Team is TODAY from 3:30-5:00pm in the small gym. Please see Ms. Robertson if you have any questions.
CLUBS
Chess Club
The Chess Club is now open in room 327 EVERY DAY at lunch. All levels are welcome and all equipment is provided. Masks are mandatory while playing.
Math Club
Math Club runs TODAY after school in room130. We will do some prep for this Wednesday's CSIMC. If you are interested in writing this Wednesday's contest, there are a couple of extra papers for both the Senior and Junior categories. See Mr. Skanks for details.

Saanich Schools International Student Program is looking for new host families for our International student who will be joining us in February 2022, as well as host families who would like to be available on short notice for students currently here. Grad Portraits – Additional Booking Dates Available
Additional sessions have been opened up for those students who were unable to secure a spot in the first round of dates.
November 19,22,23,26 – 8:30am-8:30pm
Please note that these sessions will be held at the LIFETOUCH STUDIO at #104-1740 Island Hwy, not at Claremont. The $25 sitting fee can be paid online while booking your appointment or at the time of your sitting. Magic Wand Project
Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. UBC MD Outreach Ambassador Program - Virtual Info Session: Nov 24
The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine is hosting a virtual session to help inform students about a possible future career in medicine, via their Medical Student Outreach Ambassador Program. Claremont's virtual session, with presenter Lindsay Cole is scheduled for WEDNESDAY Nov 24 at 6pm.

Part-time yard clean-up. One of our neighbours in the Broadmead area is looking for a student to help on weekends part-time, with yard clean-up.
The Sidney Museum is posting a job for an Archive Intern. This would be an ideal opportunity for a high school student aged 16+ to gain experience in the Archives field. The museum will be accepting resumes until the position is filled and will begin reviewing them on November 16th. 14 hours/week (9:00am to 4:30pm Saturdays and Sundays). $16.60/hour.

Early Childhood Education Dual Credit Option
The South Island Partnership (SIP) is excited to announce a new dual credit option for students interested in Early Childhood Education (ECE)! SIP has been awarded special funding to deliver a five-course cluster of dual credit courses that are part of Camosun's Early Learning & Care (ELC) program, running February - June 2022.
With a start date of Feb 2022, the window of time to apply is short! See Mr. Bussoli as soon as possible, for more information. There is also an Info Night at the Camosun Interurban Campus, Nov 17, 7pm-8pm.

NEWS FROM CLAREMONT PAC
Claremont Parent Advisory Council (CPAC) Meeting - Tuesday, November 16th @ 7pm
Inviting all parents to attend the 3rd CPAC meeting of the year through MS Teams or live in the Claremont Learning Commons. The meeting will run 7pm-8pm. We will extend the invite to parents who joined us last month (no need to sign up). For others who wish to join, please sign up today through this link: CPAC Meeting. An MS Teams Invite will be issued in advance of the meeting. We will discuss and align on funding allocation for student clubs, etc.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
