Toys for Teens: Dec 1-8
The 9th annual "Toys For Teens Donation Drive" starts TOMORROW (Wednesday) and runs until Dec. 8. Claremont donates Gift Cards for Teens in Need in our community in support of The Zone 91.3's annual Toy Drive. Our donations are shared by numerous local agencies such as 1UP Single Parent Resource Centre, CFAX Santas Anonymous, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, The Mustard Seed and many more under the umbrella of "The Christmas Giving Network."
We are asking for $10 Gift Cards that Teens would like for: coffee shops, restaurants, retail locations, music, grocery stores, drug stores, bus passes, pre-paid credit cards, etc. Cash donations are also happily accepted. Students are encouraged to bring their donations to their Block 1 class (or the front office if they do not have a Block 1 class). Thank you for your support of this great cause and for sharing the Spartan Spirit. Happy Holidays!
Coffee Grams
It's that giving time of year! Show your appreciation for your friends and favourite staff by sending them a STARBUCKS Coffee Gram! Starbucks Coffee Grams will be for sale at lunch in the lounge for $2 each on WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY and FRIDAY THIS WEEK. We will be delivering coffees during Block 1 on TUESDAY December 7th. All proceeds are in support of Toys for Teens.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club will start up again THIS FRIDAY. This FREE breakfast includes a bagel, spread, and juice box. Breakfast will be served at the Spartan Store from 8:20 – 8:45 every FRIDAY morning. This treat is sponsored by the Claremont PAC.
After School Homework Club
For all students who would like extra help in Math, English, Science or Social Studies: help from Education Assistants is available on TUESDAYS & THURSDAY after school 3:15-4:15 in room 235. All students in all grades are welcome.
Year-Long Drama: Dec. 9-11
The Year-Long Drama production of HUMBUG HIGH will be performing Dec 9-11 at 7:30pm in-person and via Livestream. This modern high-school based adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is sure to please. Featuring the talents of our student actors and technicians, this play will put you in the spirit for Christmas! Masks are required. Tickets are $10 at the door. Donate a non-perishable food item at the door and save $1 per item (maximum 5 items).
Learning Commons – Free Books
The Learning Commons shelves are full! This means the library will be removing some of our older titles to make room for new books. Our criteria for weeding: books that have never circulated, that have been on our shelves for 6 or more years, and were published before the year 2000. These books will be available for free to any students or staff who wish to have them. You can find them in our freebie boxes outside the main entrance to the Learning Commons. We will be adding titles to the boxes throughout December, so check back often!
Crim and Psych Dual Credit Courses - URGENT
Did you sign up for a Crim 154 or Pysch 130 Dual Credit Course for this school year? You should have received an email, last June, with instructions to complete the last step of the application process. THIS APPLICATION AND FEE WILL SECURE YOUR SPOT. There are a few of you who still have not submitted your completed application and fee receipt. If this is you, your spot is not secured. Please complete this step and submit it to Mr Bussoli ASAP. Come see him if you have questions.
Found
New in the Lost & Found today: a house key, and a group of keys (including a key for a bike lock) were found. They can be claimed at the school office.

There are still lots of school photo packages in the office, waiting to be picked up.
Bus Cards
There are still lots of bus cards in the office, waiting to be picked up for students who are registered to ride the bus. The bus drivers expect students to show their bus cards to ride the school bus.
School Busses – On Twitter
The SD63 school buses transport 3,000 students to/from school each school day, with 16 regular bus routes and 4 Special Needs routes. The Transportation Dept has a Twitter Account to help notify parents and schools of any transportation delays as they happen. Jr Girls ‘B’ Basketball
Reminder to the Jr Girls ‘B’ Basketball team of their practices TODAY and WEDNESDAY after school in the small gym. Please see Mr Reisig or email coach Rob if you can not attend.

Welcomers Club
If you are looking to meet new people in the building and have a nice place to be at lunch, you are invited to come to the Welcomers Club TODAY and every TUESDAY at lunch in room 235. Key Club - Locker Wrapping
HoHoHo,!! Key Club is doing their annual Christmas locker wrapping from Dec 1st (tomorrow) to Dec 10th (next Friday). For $2, get someone’s locker wrapped with Christmas wrapping paper! Sales will take place in the student lounge every day at lunch (Dec 1-10).
YCI: Winter Backpack Supply Drive
YCI's “Home is Where the Heart Is” backpack and supply drive is continuing until December 10th. We are collecting non-perishable snacks, hats, gloves, socks, toiletries and backpacks for homeless youth in the Victoria area. Collection bins are beside the main entrance.

Saanich Schools International Student Program is looking for new host families for our International student who will be joining us in February 2022, as well as host families who would like to be available on short notice for students currently here. Grad ’22 Winter Gala – Dec.6
Less than one week until the Class of ’22 Winter Gala!!! MONDAY Dec 6th 7:00-10:00pm. Tickets are on sale on-line and in person through the accounting office. $25 ticket includes food, photobooth, games, and music, and making memories with your grad class. Coat check is available.

Student Trainee - Construction Project Management Opportunity
Architecture49 and WSP Canada have 10 openings available for individuals of the Pauquachin, Tseycum, Tsartlip, Tsawout or Malahat First Nations who are interested in hands-on training in the fields of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering. Early Childhood Education Dual Credit Option
The South Island Partnership (SIP) is excited to announce a new dual credit option for students interested in Early Childhood Education (ECE)! SIP has been awarded special funding to deliver a five-course cluster of dual credit courses that are part of Camosun's Early Learning & Care (ELC) program, running February - June 2022. YMCA Summer Camp 2022 - Job and Volunteering Opportunities
Camp Thunderbird and the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island has quite a few job/volunteering opportunities well suited to high school students, and are actively seeking applications for students interested in working with children and youth in outdoor settings.
Summer camp counsellors work at Camp Thunderbird with groups of up to 10 campers to lead and share fun activities such as archery, canoeing, hiking, swimming, and camping.
Students in Grades 11 and 12 are eligible to volunteer in the summer, and Grade 12 students can apply for paid positions. Both jobs are listed on the YMCA website. You can also go to the Saanich District Career Education site for more information: https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
