Updated School Calendar
A few important dates have been changed on the semester 2 school calendar. Here is the updated Year at a Glance.
Musical Theatre: Wizard of Oz
It’s almost time to follow the yellow brick road!!! Claremont’s Musical Theatre presents: The Wizard Of Oz. Shows will be live-streamed AND in person, if permitted by Public Health guidelines. In-person tickets are on sale through Belinda Waller in the Accounting office; call 250-658-6672. $16 for adults; $12 for students/children/seniors. Details coming soon for the LINK for live-streaming and payment (live-streaming tickets will be $25 + service fee, as multiple people per household can view at the same time). 10 shows will run on these dates:
March 2-5 @7pm
March 9-12 @7pm
Saturday March 5 & 12 matinees @1pm
Skills Canada South Island Regional Competitions
Show your skills, compete, and have fun by being involved with Skills Canada! Secondary students can learn, compete and showcase their skills in areas like Public Speaking, Culinary, Electronics, Workplace Safety, Photography, Carpentry, and many more....
Competitions will be hosted online, at your high school, or at Camosun Interurban campus. More details HERE. See Mr. Bussoli for more information, and register by Friday, Feb 18th. Competitions start March 4th.

Absences and Illness
A reminder that parents/guardians notify the school office every day that a student will be absent from school. PLEASE indicate if the reason for absence is for illness; the Ministry of Education requires that schools specifically track how many student absences are due to illness. Please notify either the Attendance email: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca or by phone message: 250-658-6666. Please perform BC’s K-12 daily health check before arriving at school by clicking HERE .
ATHLETICS
Rugby
All Senior and Junior Girl rugby players have a meeting TODAY at lunch in room 134.
Practices for both boys and girls will continue TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY) after school.
CLUBS
Key Club
This past weekend, the Key Club baked up a storm to support local programs. Lasagnas were made for the YMCA's Young Moms program at Kiwanis Family Centre and dozens of cookies were made and donated to the Royal Oak Middle School lunch program. The kindness and caring of our Key Club students shone in every hour of slicing, dicing, and baking, and their efforts will be appreciated with each delicious bite!
New! Computer Programming Club
Starting this THURSDAY, Room 236 will be open at lunch on Thursdays for any students interested in working with computer programming. See Mr. Beeston with any questions.
Robotics Club
Any students interested in learning about competitive robots and the Claremont Robotics Club, please attend an information meeting TODAY at lunch in room 220. No experience necessary!

Saanich Parks Job Opportunity - Spring Break Camps
The District of Saanich Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for a variety of individuals to work in our Spring Break Camps for children ages 5 -13. Capilano U: Legal Assistant Program
Virtual Info Meeting Feb.23
If you are interested in law and legal studies, you will want to join a virtual info session about Capilano University's Legal Assistant & Paralegal Programs! The presentation will cover Capilano's in-person and online program options, which are highly regarded in the legal industry. Law12 students are great candidates for their programs, but students with interest in other areas are also benefited by Legal Studies courses.

Volunteer Opportunity: Saanich Peninsula Youth Health Clinic
If you are interested in working in healthcare, social services or non-profit/social justice environments, this volunteer opportunity may be a great option for you! The Saanich Peninsula Youth Health Clinic is welcoming a limited number of new volunteers who are interested in training for their Sexual Health Ambassador program!
The team is looking for volunteers who are compassionate, who approach new topics with curiosity and non-judgement, and who are interested in learning about health through various lenses: anti-racism, LGBTQ2+ inclusion, decolonization, disability justice and more. Claremont Parent Advisory Council (CPAC) Meeting
TONIGHT (Feb 15) 7-8pm
Inviting all parents to attend the next CPAC meeting virtually through MS Teams. We will extend the invite to parents who joined us last month (no need to sign up). For others who wish to join, please sign up through this link: CPAC Meeting. An MS Teams Invite will be issued in advance of the meeting. We will discuss new funding requests, course selection process, health & safety and Gr. 9 immunizations.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
