CSI Rowing

The CSI rowers had a fantastic weekend at the Elk Lake Spring Regatta. It was great to have the chance to compete against the majority of the crews in BC that are the main competition from the West Coast for us at Nationals (Vancouver College, St. Georges, Brentwood, Shawnigan, SMUS). This regatta was 2000m long with beautiful water conditions all weekend.

Highlights from the weekend:

Junior Girls:

1st in the coxed four (four rowers, each rower has one oar);

2nd and 4th in the quad (four rowers, each rower has 2 oars);

1st, 5th and 7th in the double (2 rowers, each with 2 oars);

3rd in the single (Tegan Zecher!)

Junior Boys:

2nd and 8th in the single (Quinn McCoy, and Callum Dutchak)

5th for our Novice Boys racing against all ages.

Senior Girls:

5th in the quad

3rd in the Open Womens 1x (Evey Lewis), racing against some university athletes!

3rd in the single (Kati Chow), racing against other high schoolers

5th for our novice ladies in the coxed four (very tough event!)

Senior Boys:

1st in the Open Double (racing against some university crews; Fabio and Gerrit won with about 300m of open water)

4th, 5th and 6th in the single (they had some fantastic races in this event!)

2nd and 7th in the quad

2nd in the Open Mens quad!

All of these student-athletes made us proud. Not only did they race strong, but they also stepped up after their racing to volunteer for the regatta and saved the day!

Our next regatta is up in Duncan on April 9th. Go Spartans!!
