GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Parent Volunteers/Drivers for Next Year
Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips may start up quickly in September, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving, as the process can take a few weeks at rush time. On the Claremont Secondary home page, under Quick Links, find the Parent Volunteers link and follow the steps.
Indigenous Peoples Day – June 21
TOMORROW (TUESDAY June 21) is Indigenous Peoples Day. We encourage everyone to wear ORANGE to support and to celebrate this special day.
Yearbooks
There are still lots of yearbooks that haven’t been picked up yet. They are available to pick up TODAY and every day this week in the first 20 minutes of lunch in the Student Lounge.
If you are wondering if you ordered a yearbook, please check with Mr. Howat or our accountant, Belinda Waller. If you still wish to buy a yearbook, you can purchase one at the Accounting office for $45.
Work Experience Credits
Any students who think they might be working or volunteering this summer and want to receive high school credits for Work Experience, MUST REGISTER for Work Experience with Mr. Arsenault. Come see Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre any morning to sign up.
Lost and Found Table
There is a lost & found table set up in the horseshoe hallway, and items might be added throughout the week. Anything leftover on Thursday will be bagged up and donated to a charity.
Text Books & Library Books
All students: please bring back all of your library books and textbooks to the Learning Commons by the end of TODAY, unless you need the book for studying for final exams.
Lockers
Students, please take a few minutes to empty out your lockers TODAY or TOMORROW. We strongly recommend that you write down you lock combination and keep it in a safe place so you remember it for September!!

Report Cards
Report cards will be handed out on two separate days, outside at the main entrance of the school. Parents, siblings and family members are also welcome to pick them up:

A reminder for students to check their school email for different notices throughout June- especially Grades 10-12!
IGS - Zero Café & Baked Goods
The Zero Café is now selling baked goods too, along with their special coffees! Come down to the IGS room (264) for a delicious treat with your morning coffee or a nice after-lunch dessert. See you there!
Absences and Illness
A reminder that parents/guardians notify the school office every day that a student will be absent from school. PLEASE indicate if the reason for absence is for illness; the Ministry of Education requires that schools specifically track how many student absences are due to illness. Please notify either the Attendance email: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca or by phone message: 250-658-6666. Please perform BC’s K-12 daily health check before arriving at school by clicking HERE .
ATHLETICS
Athletic Awards – Tuesday June 21
All Claremont athletes are welcome to attend the Claremont 2022 Athletic Awards. TOMORROW (TUESDAY), June 21, 4:00-6:00, in the main gym. Free to all (if you paid the $40 athletic fee) or $10 if you didn’t pay it. Pizza, T-shirts, Draw Prizes, Ice Cream, and Awards!!
CSI Rowing Year-End BBQ and Awards – Friday June 24
BBQ starting at 6:15pm outside the Student Lounge.
Awards starting at 7:15ish in the Ridge Theatre.
There is a $10 ticket price for all non-current CSI Rowing students that would like food. Family, friends, alumni, and future Spartans are invited as this is a celebration of our past year and a look forward to next year! Spread the word! If you don't want food, no need to buy a ticket. Last day to RSVP for food is Friday June 17th. $10 for food upon arrival (if not paid beforehand) for all non-CSI Rowing students.

CLUBS
Key Club – School Supply Drive
Claremont Key Club is hosting a School Supply Drive throughout the month of June! They will be accepting pencils, paper, duotangs, binders, markers, and more. Please bring any items to Ms. Pang's room (room 135), the front office, or the Learning Commons. All donations will go to the Compassionate Resource Warehouse for Ukrainian refugees. Thank you for your support.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Host Families Needed
Saanich International Student Program (SISP) is actively looking for new Host Families for our International students joining us at the end of August 2022. Make lifelong friendships, provide a student with a home away from home and share the beauty of your community!
If you are interested in this opportunity, host families are provided:
· $975 per month per student (students must have their own bedroom)
· Ongoing support from the SISP Homestay team
· International students who are fully vaccinated

Volunteers Needed for Year-End Grad 2022 Events
Our Grad Parent Executive is looking for volunteers to assist with our year-end Grad
events on MONDAY June 27th and WEDNESDAY June 29th. Parents/guardians can sign up to assist with supervision, setup, takedown and other tasks on these days by using this LINK.

Child Care Needed - July & August
A family in the Prospect Lake area is looking for a mature student to care for/nanny their 1-year-old son for 2 to 3 days per week in July & August. The toddler is very easy going and naps twice a day. The family would be happy for the student to spend lots of time outside with their son. Please see Mrs. Watson in room 222 or email cwatson@saanichschools.ca for the contact information if you are interested. They will pay a good hourly wage and include lots of perks!

PAC Fundraiser: Country Grocer Receipts
Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office. We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.
COMMUNITY NEWS
2SLGBTQ2IA+ Drop-in Social Group
There is a new 2SLGBTQ2IA+ drop-in social group at The Upside Youth Centre. MONDAYS from 3:30 – 5:30pm. This is a safe space to be yourself and connect with a youth leader and peers. Play games, make crafts, spend time outside and connect with our staff. Youth in Grade 6 - 12 are welcome! Sign up HERE.
Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
