The Assessment and Management of Concussion:  Did you know that in 2018, 11% of students in grades 6 to 10 reported a medically diagnosed concussion within the past year, or that children aged 0-14 years have the highest rate of emergency department visits for concussion? Come join other Claremont parents for this presentation that will provide information that can help us take care of our kids if/when they experience a concussion. The presentation will provide an update on the current research concerning the management of acute and chronic concussion symptoms. In addition to the brain, the vision, vestibular and somatosensory systems may be disrupted by head trauma, contributing to persistent symptoms of headache, dizziness, fatigue, impaired cognition and memory, mood changes and autonomic nervous system dysregulation.

Presenter:  Bernard Tonks is a Claremont parent and Physiotherapist with over 35 years of experience in musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation. Since 1993, he has worked in private practices in Ontario and British Columbia. He has been treating clients with vestibular dysfunctions since 1995 and since 2012, his practice has been exclusive to dizziness, vestibular disorders and the management of dizziness in Persistent Post Concussion Symptoms.

Thank you for your time, Bernard!
