Recently, our Planning 10 students attended the P.A.R.T.Y Program at the Victoria General Hospital. The Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth program is an important part of their curriculum where students learned 'the consequences of not wearing a seat belt, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, and distracted driving—consequences such as permanent brain or spinal cord injury, burns, paralysis and death'. They toured the hospital including a simulated trauma in the E.R, participated in speaker sessions and hands on exercises. This is a powerful field trip, so please talk to your child about what they learned. Feel free to visit the website for more information.
