Hearts of the Community is a ‘thank you’ to local volunteers, jointly sponsored by the Peninsula News Review and local charity Beacon Community Services. All nominees were honoured recently at a community luncheon and ceremony at the Mary Winspear Centre. Six awards were presented at the public event — including a $1,000 scholarship for exemplary volunteer service in a Peninsula school or community by a youth aged 14 to 19.
Sage Broomfield was the recipient of this year's Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award and the $1000 scholarship for her work in establishing and maintaining Claremont's Best Buddies Program, as well as her history of volunteering broadly and generously with other student groups in the school. Congratulations Sage!!
