Today in class, students:
- read for USSR
- wrote a second journal response for Indian Horse (posted below)
- participated in a poetic devices hunt through Indian Horse, with a group, for a candy prize
- read and discussed another family gathering poem - "At the Wedding"
- started working on poem #1 for this unit, following the criteria below:
- on the topic of family gatherings
- free verse
- minimum 10 lines
- include descriptive detail
- consider focusing on a memorable moment and/or including interesting characters, and/or character relationships (look at the 3 poems we've read for inspiration)
Homework:
- Finish the rough draft of poem #1 for tomorrow.
- Finish reading chapter 19 in Indian Horse.
- work on this week's journal responses, which will be handed in at the end of the unit
