While exams have been taking place in the gym, the shop wing has been filled with students from Royal Oak. On Tuesday and Thursday, over 200 grade 8s attended the Yes 2 It Project; an opportunity for middle school students to see and experience some of the electives they can chose from when they attend Claremont. They built cell phone holders in the wood shop and rolled out coins and tried welding in the metal shop. They were also introduced to the textiles room and foods room with an introduction on what they could expect to learn in those classes. We often don't realize that we like something until we try it, so hopefully this hands-on experience will encourage students to continue trying new things and maybe even sparked an interest in these areas offered at Claremont.
