First Nations Carver
Today, Claremont's Learning Commons hosted Doug LaFourtune and his wife Kathy to offer students a First Nations demonstration of his carving skills while creating the Welcome Figure.  If you haven't heard, the Welcome Figure is a like a "totem pole" and Doug is carving it out at each of our schools in School District 63 (Saanich).  At the end of May, the Welcome Figure will be completed and hopefully placed at the School District office on Keating Road.  The Welcome Figure will be in the form of The Dancing Bear.  Thank you to all those involved.
