Fire Camp

Recently, 5 Claremont students, Dayne Randell, Jules Kier, Danielle Warren, Aidan Currie and Laquisa Farkas-Husbands, participated in the experience of a lifetime!  They spent a week on Pender Island as cadets in an intensive Firefighting Camp; an incredible opportunity for high school students to learn basic firefighting skills, search and rescue techniques and first response medical procedures.  They faught a variety of different types of fires, suspended from balconies, rode in helicopters and RCMP Rescue boats, did obstacle courses in full uniform with tanks on and bonded with other students from the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island.  They gained immense knowledge from the amazing volunteers on Pender Island who mentored the students throughout their week.  Well done Spartans and congratulations on participating in such a great experience!  Check out this article and more photos from The Globe and Mail http://www.theglobeandmail.com/multimedia/firefighters-give-some-young-heroes-a-day-to-remember/article23694053/  Photo credit above: Chad Hipolito
