Today in class, students:
- read for USSR
- went over their homework - Questions #1, 3-5 on "The Veldt"
- were given "how to" hints for writing theme statements, and then they wrote one for "The Veldt"
- compared the parenting faults and strengths of the parents in "The Father" and "The Veldt" using a venn diagram
- were introduced to literary paragraph writing
- went over the "literary must-haves" sheet
- too notes on how to organize the content in a literary paragraph
- were given a handout of transition words
- filled in the topic for their first literary paragraph on an outline and were shown the assignment criteria (see below)
Homework:
Students may start working on their outline, though there will be class time tomorrow to complete the outline and write the rough draft of the paragraph.
