GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Warm Clothing Drive
YCI is collecting warm clothes for cold people this week. If you have any gently used clothes you would like to go to people living on the streets, please bring them to the large box near the front entrance to the school.

Night of Dance
The Night of Dance performances will be next week on WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY (Jan 13/14) starting at 7pm.  Tickets will be on sale through the dance teachers in the dance studio this coming Thursday. $5 for Claremont students, $10 for all others.

Music Department - Winter Cafe & Silent Auction
Open Call for Performers:  Next TUESDAY, January 12th, the Music Department will be hosting this year's Winter Cafe at Claremont, an informal performance opportunity for musicians. The Winter Cafe is open to all Claremont students, not only band and choir students. Interested performers are asked to sign up on the band room door as soon as possible.

ATHLETICS
November Athletes of the Month
Congratulation to the following students on being selected as the November "Athletes of the Month". You can read more about their accomplishments in the display cases outside the main gym and PE Office.

Senior Female: Lauren Montgomery-Stinson

Basketball This Week
TODAY - the Jr Girls play at Royal Bay at 4:15 and will need to be excused from class at 2:50.
Sr Girls host Reynolds at 5:45 pm.
Sr Boys are at Lambrick at 7:30 pm.
WEDNESDAY - our Jr Boys and Jr Girls B teams are at SMU and the boys will need to excused at 3:15.
THURSDAY - the Sr Boys tourney starts at 2:30 with our own team playing Brentwood (boys will miss last class) and runs most of Thursday night.  Classes are welcome to attend to watch with the permission and supervision of their teacher.
As well, our Jr Boys (4:15 pm) and Jr Girls (5:45 pm) teams are at rival Oak Bay - boys will need to be excused at 3:00.
FRIDAY -  the Sr Boys tourney begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs throughout the whole day.  Our Sr Boys play McNair (Richmond) at 12:45 and again at 7:30 pm versus Enver Creek. 
Additionally, our Jr Boys and Jr Girls teams are in tournaments starting Friday at Spectrum and Stellys.

CAREER CENTRE
Volunteer Opportunities
Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Victoria seeks volunteer mentors, (aged 15+), to serve as role models and teach by example the importance of giving and giving back, staying in school, and respecting family, peers and community.
Habitat for Humanity is a housing organization working to eliminate poverty and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Help as part of a team to build new housing for those in need.

Grad Portrait Retakes
Grads:  If you missed having your grad portraits taken in October, or if you need retakes, the Lifetouch portable photo studio is returning to Claremont for two days only next week:  THURSDAY & FRIDAY (Jan. 14/15). This will be your last chance to have a grad photo in the school yearbook.  Appointments can be booked online at:  lifetouch.ca/victoria
