GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Blood Drive
“Young Blood For Life” Blood Drive will be in the Learning Commons on Monday Feb 29.  Sign up starts Wednesday - with Ms Chapman, rm 136, or in the Student Lounge at lunch time.  Must be at least 17yrs old. 

Bone Marrow Registry
“OneMatch” Registry for Bone Marrow Donation will be in the Learning Commons on Monday Feb 29 .  No appointment needed.  Must be at least 16yrs old.

Peer Tutoring
Peer Tutors are now available at lunch four days per week (MONDAYS to THURSDAYS) to help in the academic and language areas. Please check into the Peer Tutor area near the start of lunch.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Valentine Flower-Grams
Valentine's Day is coming up this Sunday, so let that special someone know you care by sending them a "flower-gram"! Flowers cost $1.00 each and can be ordered TODAY at lunch. Cupid will be delivering the flowers to your Valentine during block 4 tomorrow (Thursday).

ATHLETICS
Basketball
Congrats to the Sr Girls team for their tourney win in Nanaimo this past weekend - led by the play of Elle Hamilton, the girls beat Dover Bay 68-52 in the final.  They play in the city semis this FRIDAY night at Belmont at 7:15 and hopefully in finals on SATURDAY at 6:00.
The Sr Boys carried on league play with a game Tuesday and their last home game is this THURSDAY at 7:30.   The guys will need fans out next week when they play Spectrum in their challenge match to get to Islands.
The Jr Girls and Jr Boys start their city championships this week with the girls in the semis at home vs SMU TODAY at 4:15.  The guys started Tuesday and lost on a buzzer beating 3 pointer to lose to Lambrick by 2.  Good luck to all.

CAREER CENTRE
Army Reserve Field Ambulance
Come to learn more about being a medic with an Army Reserve Unit!  There will be a presentation by the Eleven (Victoria) Field Ambulance Army Reserve Unit on TUESDAY, Feb. 16th at lunch in the Learning Commons.   They are currently hiring Medical Assistants for part-time positions within the unit. Army Reserves is a very good part-time job while being a student in College or University; as well, there is federal funding of up to $8000 dollars to pursue post-secondary education.

BC Aviation Museum Career Day
Thought about a career in aviation?  SATURDAY, Feb. 20th, 2016, come and meet some of the best in the Aviation Industry:  Viking Air, Pacific Coastal Air, Pacific Sky, Nav Canada, Victoria Flying Club, CASARA and many others!  Training programs presented by UVic, North Island College, Camosun College, BCIT Aerospace and 848 & 676 Air Cadet Squadrons. FREE student admission; all others by donation.   More details in the Career Centre.

OSEF Exchanges to France, Belgium and Spain
Applications are still being accepted for the 2016/2017 OSEF School Exchange programs to France, Belgium or Spain!  Live and go to school for 9 or 11 weeks and learn another language while being immersed in a new culture!  Can't take time away from school here?  Consider the 1-month Summer exchange program.  Please see Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Centre for more information!.

Music Technologies & Music Performance Programs
Victoria Conservatory of Music with Camosun College offers music career training with an online certificate program in Music Technologies and a full-time Post-Secondary Diploma in Music Performance program.  Take your career in your own hands, work at what you love to do!  Information brochures are available in the Career Centre.

Visual College of Art and Design
Visual College of Art and Design of Vancouver is offering up to $150,000 in scholarships to the high school class of 2016!! All entries must be received by May 19, 2016.  VCAD offers programs in Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Game Development/Mobile Game Design, 3D Modeling Animation Art, Marketing and Merchandising for Fashion.  VCAD scholarship  application forms are available in the Career Centre.

YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange Program
The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national program offering opportunities for youth to improve their second official language skills, while gaining important employment experience!  Open to students aged 16-17 with basic ability in either French or ESL.  The 6-week cultural immersion exchange starts at the end of June.  You will be provided with a paid employment opportunity in your host community. **Note** this is a reciprocal exchange so your family will be required to also host a student. A nominal participation fee is required; all other costs and activities will be covered by the program.  Lots more information and brochures in the Career Centre!

GRAD 2016
Grad Transition
Only 1/3 of this year's grads have completed their GTs so far!!!  Grad Transition is a grad requirement!   Complete your Grad Transition while you still have time to choose who to do your interview with!  After the March deadline, you will have to have an interview appointment scheduled for you. Forms and information are in the Career Centre!  Just do it!
