GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Report Cards
If you missed picking up your report card in your House Block on Tuesday, they are now in the office.

Year-Long Drama Play
Opening Night is TONIGHT!!  Year-Long Drama presents: “The Good Person of Szechwan.”  This play is a drama and explores what it means to be a 'good person'.  Shows run nightly Feb 17-20 and Feb 23-26 at 7:30pm.  All tickets $10 at the door.  If you bring a non-perishable food item you can get a $1 off your ticket price (maximum $5 off).  Donations go to Mustard Seed food bank.  This play deals with mature subjects, so is not recommended for children under 12.

Math Challengers Competition Results
The Claremont Math Challengers Team of Anson Pan, Mackenzie Wensauer, Riley Pickrell and Owen Taylor finished in third place at the 2016 Math Challengers competition at Camosun College over the weekend.  Anson Pan also finished first overall in the individual competition and has qualified for the provincial championships in April.

TC10K Claremont Team
Would you like to be part of one of Claremont's teams where no experience is necessary?  Sign up for the TC10K and select Claremont Spartans from the drop down menu in the school category. Race day is Sunday April 24th and it is open to all staff and students.  See Mr. Nelson for more details.

Chess Club
The Claremont Chess Club meets EVERY DAY at lunch in room 327.  We have lots of sets, boards, and clocks.  Open to all students who want to learn to play the best board game of all time!

Lost and Found Items
Come by and check out the tables by the office, full of various lost and found items.

Peer Tutoring
There are Peer Tutors available for help in academic subjects at lunch in the Learning Commons 5 days a week:  MONDAYS – FRIDAYS. Please check in at the start of lunch (you can eat while you study:)

For any students grades 9-12 who are interested in being on the Track and Field team this year:  there is an important meeting this THURSDAY at the start of lunch in room 137. Please see Ms. Giese if you can't attend the meeting.

Camosun Centre for Sport and Exercise Education (CCEE)
The next free information session for CCEE is this THURSDAY, Feb. 18th, from 6-7:00 pm at the Camosun Interurban Campus, PISE building, room 329A.  CCEE offers:  Certificate programs for Exercise & Wellness and Sport Management, Diploma in Sport Management,  Diploma in Exercise & Wellness, Bachelor Degree of Sport & Fitness Leadership, Bachelor Degree of Athletic & Exercise Therapy. 

Volunteer Opportunities
BC SPCA Wild ARC is a specialized centre for treating injured or orphaned wild animals in Metchosin.  Volunteer positions are available in animal care, centre support, and community-building. Register for a volunteer orientation session!
Langham Court Theatre is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join their team. From costume sewers and menders to set builders! Great experience to be part of this dramatic group!
Headway Health Fair at the Mary Winspear Centre, SATURDAY February 27th 8:00am-10:00  still needs 4 Volunteers to help vendors set up, and sell their goods. Cashier experience an asset but not necessary.

Free Income Tax Preparation!
Have you been working and need to submit an income tax return this year? Beacon can help! Volunteers will be available at the SHOAL Centre, in Sidney, March 1 to April 29. To qualify, your income must be less than $30,000.00 this year. Drop-in available weekdays after school.

Quest University Information Night
Prospective students and their parents are welcome to join a free information night about studying at Quest University (Squamish, BC) TONIGHT @ 6:30 pm at the downtown branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library (735 Broughton St.). The evening features a talk from James Cohn and opportunities to talk to alumni and admissions representatives.
