GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Summer Session – Rec Leadership
Any students interested in hearing about the Recreation Leadership summer class: please attend a lunchtime meeting on WEDNESDAY in the big gym. Students in this class run summer camps for elementary aged children and get paid. It's open to students currently in grades 9-11.

Fine Arts Night
Fine Arts Night is coming up next WEDNESDAY March 9.  Come see performances from Acting, Drama, Film & TV, Music, and Dance, as well as displays from our Visual Arts.  Doors open @ 6:30 pm, and the show starts at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $5 at the door

“Finding Hope” Evening of Talent
Spectrum Community School and Child Find BC are teaming up for an evening of talent on Thursday, March 31, dedicated to the children of BC . They are looking for performers from area high schools.  All proceeds will be donated to Child Find BC.  Students $5, adults $10, group/family (up to 5) $20.  Go to perform or just be a spectator!  More information in the Career Centre.

ATHLETICS
Junior Girls Soccer – Rescheduled Tryout.
TODAY's tryout has been CANCELLED due to Mr Moore's unavailability.  First tryout/practice will now be THURSDAY after school until 4:45.  We will also have one next Tuesday and Thursday too before the team is selected.  All grade 9 and 10 girls wanting to play are welcome to attend.

Tennis Anyone??
All tennis enthusiasts who want to try out for the school tennis team: please see Mr Gardner in room 327 on FRIDAY at lunch.

CAREER CENTRE
Job Opportunities
School Track and Field competitions will be needing people to keep track of participating High School and Middle School results.  This will take place on selected dates starting March 30 and going through to June 2nd, involving mostly after school hours as well as some full and part days.  A strong knowledge of the EXCEL spreadsheet program is required.  Rate of pay: $12.00/hour for approx 65 hours for High School and 30 hours for Middle School tracking.  See Mrs. Lederis for more information on how to apply!

Yard clean-up is required for 2-days at $12.00 per hour at a residence in North Saanich.   Could be longer term if a good fit.

Yard work is required for  2-5 days over Spring Break at a residence in North Saanich: raking, branch collection, weeding. $12.00 /hour.

SHOAL Centre Training and Courses
As summer approaches, there will be more opportunities for seasonal employment!  One or more of the following courses will be an asset when applying for most jobs in the Child Care, Restaurant or Yard Maintenance areas!

Free Income Tax Preparation
If you have been working and need to file Income Taxes this year, Beacon can help! They have volunteers who will be available at the SHOAL Centre, March 1 - April 29, to help you with your income tax return.  To qualify, your income must be less than 30,000.00 this year.  Drop-in is available weekdays after school.
