MEETING AT LUNCH TODAY
Peer Tutors
Peer Tutors: there is an important meeting TODAY at the start of lunch in computer lab 225 (across from the old Career Center). If you are a student who could tutor in senior English, Math and Science classes, please attend.

Bus Passes
If you have registered to ride the school bus, please come to the office to pick up your new bus pass.

There are still many school photos and student I.D cards in the office from the first photo day. Please come to the office to pick them up.
Do You Need a Peer Tutor?
If you are in need of an academic Peer Tutor, please see Ms. Giese in the counselling office. We have a small group of tutors ready to help in some subject areas.
Krispy Kreme Donuts
The Sr Girls Bball team is fundraising for their trip to Hawaii: Krispy Kreme donuts will be on sale THURSDAY at lunch. A dozen for $10 or $1 each.
Girls: Imagining Possibilities Conference
We still have a few spaces open for the Imagining Possibilities Conference next WEDNESDAY. Any girls who are interested in attending this free conference on building confidence, leadership skills, and looking to explore goals for the future should see Ms. Giese today in the counselling office to pick up a permission form.
Model UN Conference (Nov 5th)
The Nov 5th Model UN Conference is an opportunity for students to practice their public speaking and consensus-building skills in a friendly, non-confrontational learning environment to discuss topics such as climate change, water management, and protection and promotion of environmental migrants. STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Halloween Week
Halloween is coming up quickly and the Student Government has some fun activities planned for Claremont.
MONDAY 24th – Black-Out Monday. Wear black!!
TUESDAY 25th – Halloween Lip Sync at lunch in the theatre. Sign-up sheet is posted on the theatre door.
WEDNESDAY 26th – Mummy Wrap Contest at lunch in the lounge.
THURSDAY 27th – Movie at lunch in the theatre (Halloween Town).
FRIDAY 28th – Funky Hat Day. Get creative!
MONDAY 31st – Halloween costume contest at lunch in the gym.
ATHLETICS
Senior Girls Volleyball
The senior girls volleyball team played one of their best matches last night against Oak Bay, The Spartans took the first set but eventually lost in three to one of the top teams in the province. They play again next TUESDAY night. Congratulation girls.

BasketBall Practices/Tryouts This Week
Sr Boys - practices are TUESDAY 7:15-9:00 and SUNDAY 6:15-8:00
Jr Boys A team - practice THURSDAY 7:00-9:00.
Jr Boys B team - will start practice/tryouts in the next 2 weeks
All Girls - open gym will be TODAY 5:30-7:15.
CAREER CENTRE
Food Safe and First Aid Training
Due to the popularity of the upcoming Food Safe and First Aid training sessions at the SHOAL Centre, a rep from Beacon Community Services will be at Claremont TODAY at lunch for sign-ups and to collect the session fee. Those wanting to to take the Oct. 21st Food Safe, or the Nov. 14th First Aid Training should come to the Career Centre at lunch on Wednesday to sign up and pay!
Volunteer Opportunity
The SHOAL Centre in Sidney needs volunteers to help make gift tags out of old Christmas cards for their Christmas Craft Fair! Come help out this SATURDAY, October 22nd, 11:00 -1:00 pm. Everyone is welcome! Visit the Career Centre for contact information.
Fall SAT Prep Courses
If you are interested in applying to an American university, it is likely that you will need to write a standardized test, and you can choose to write either/both the SAT or ACT. An SAT prep course will be offered this fall at St. Michael's University School. These are comprehensive courses that give students a solid overview of all the content, teach exclusive strategies to tackle each section, and ensure students are confident and well-prepared with extensive in-class practice.
