GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
ScreamFest

This year Claremont is hosting the annual Halloween event, which has run for the last 2 years at ROMS. ScreamFest is an amazing event featuring a scary haunted walk, the famous Vortex Tunnel, lots of games and activities, music, food and prizes!  It will run over two nights: Thursday, Oct. 26th and Friday, Oct. 27th. (6:30-10:00pm both nights).  Tickets are $10 and will be on sale all this week in the accounting office.

Spartan Wear
TODAY at the start of lunch in the big gym will be the last day that Spartan Wear ordered can be picked up.  Please come right away at the start of lunch.  After that, the extras will go on sale on a first come, first served basis.  A new order for Spartan Wear will be done in mid-November, to be received in time for Xmas.  Any questions, see Mr Reisig.

Grade 9 Immunization Forms
School Photos & I.D. Cards

If you missed HomeRoom last week, please come to the office to pick up your school photos, I.D. cards, and (for grade 9's) immunization forms.

Photo Retakes
Photo retake day will be next WEDNESDAY, October 18th  in block 1.  If you missed our first photo day, or if you want to get re-takes, next Wednesday is your day.  Photo order forms are available in the office. If you are getting retakes because you don't like your original photos, you must bring your complete photo package back to the photographer. All grades need a photo for student identification; this includes all grade 12's, even if  you are having grad photos taken too.

ATHLETICS
Senior Girls Soccer

For all girls interested in playing on the Senior Girls Soccer team: there is an important meeting tomorrow (THURSDAY) at lunch in the Big Gym.

Sr Boys Volleyball
The Sr Boys Volleyball team host their first home matches of the season TONIGHT.  Come out and cheer your Spartans on as they compete against Royal Bay and PCS.  The warm up starts at 5:30 and the game time is 6pm.  See you in the big gym tonight!

on Cordova Bay Road, has several part-time job opportunities! 
General outside yard clean-up in North Saanich/Sidney, 3 hours @$15 per hour.
Moving 2 cords of wood to wood pile in North Saanich/Sidney. Strong back needed, 3-4 hours @ $15 per hour.

Volunteer Opportunities
Please come to the Career Centre for info about these volunteer opportunities:

Special Olympics Bowling.  Special Olympics BC is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to serve as head coach of their 5-pin bowling program on Tuesdays 5- 6:30pm at Miracle Lanes in Sidney.
Face Painting at a Halloween Pumpkin Carving Event October 22 – hosted by the Remax Realty Group. 4 face painters are needed – experience an asset, but not required.
Halloween Dance and Party at Lochside Elementary is looking for lots of Claremont students to volunteer at their school on Thursday, October 19th from 5:30 – 8:30pm.  Volunteers will assist with the Cupcake Walk, assorted Halloween Midway Games and ticket sales.  All volunteers will receive a free pizza dinner & cupcake.

Training
Spaces are still available for the following training sessions:

FoodSafe Level 1
on Oct 20th from 8:30-4:30.
Basics of Banking & Finance on Oct 28th from 10:00- 11:30. 
Both courses offered by Beacon Community Services in Sidney.  Stop by the Career Centre for more info.

Operation: This IS You - Opportunities for Girls
The Achieve Anything Foundation has partnered with the Canadian Coast Guard and the Royal Canadian Navy to offer hands-on experience opportunities for girls!  These events hope to inspire more women in Aviation, Aerospace, Marine & Defence and other STEM (science, technology, engineering& math) fields.  The first event of the series is taking place October 14th.  Visit the Career Centre for more information on these opportunities!

Grads: reminder to bring your sitting fee of $25 at the time of your photo appointment. The Lifetouch portable photo studio is parked out back of the school. Information brochures are available in the school office.

Peninsula Youth Health Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Health Clinic, is located at the Ocean Pier Medical Clinic, (#207-2537 Beacon Avenue in Sidney) every THURSDAY 6-8pm.  This clinic offers completely free and confidential service in the areas of physical, sexual, and mental health for youth.  Walk-ins are welcome. This Youth Clinic offers a judgement-free zone for all youth and is an LGBTQ safe space.  For more information, call or text 250-216-8389.
