“It’s a Wonderful Life” takes on double meaning at local high school.
It is approaching that special time of year when our community focuses more on those in need and taking care of others. With that in mind the Claremont Year-Long Drama program is putting the needs of those less fortunate in our community in the forefront and is doing their part to raise food for the Mustard Seed Food Bank by collecting donations and reducing ticket prices at the same time.
Tickets for their seasonal production of the stage adaptation of Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life” can be bought for $10, but for every donation of a non-perishable food item, you can reduce your ticket price by .50 cents. (Maximum discount is $5) All donations will be forwarded to the Mustard Seed Food Bank.
“Our students appreciate how fortunate we have things in Canada and in particular at Claremont. But everyone here knows that everyone is not so fortunate. And so when the idea came up of giving back to the community, everyone jumped at the idea. And now the idea is one where we’re hearing of people saying they are coming with their whole family and a couple cases of food” says Mr. Plant, director and teacher at Claremont Secondary School.
This stage adaptation of the seasonal classic is appropriate for all ages and tells the story of George Bailey, a man whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody. Clarence shows George all the lives he has touched and the contributions he has made to his community.
