An iPod was found in the student parking lot this morning.  Please come to the office to claim it.
A set of cue cards, about forestry management, have been found.  If these belong to you, please pick them up at the office.

Lost
A silver necklace, with a swan charm on the clip, has been lost in the school. If you have found this necklace, please help out your fellow student and bring it to the office.

With the cancellation of our Open House last week, because of the snow days, we have created an alternative.  Some Programs of Choice will we be showcased by teachers starting at 7:00 p.m.  The locations for these programs are listed on the website and include:

Peru Trip – Info Meeting TONIGHT
Are you interested in exploring Art, Culture, and Service in Peru?  Claremont is planning a trip to Peru in Spring Break 2020.  There is a parent information meeting TONIGHT at 7:15 in room 327, following the Course Information presentation.  Contact Mr. Gardner for more info: dgardner@saanichschools.ca

Musical Theatre Presents “The Addams Family”
Claremont's Musical Theatre program presents “The Addams Family .” Tickets are now on sale through Mrs. Marshall in the accounting office; call 250-658-6672. 7pm shows run March 7-9 and  March 13-16. Additional 1pm matinees on March 9 & 16. Tickets are $15 Adults, or $12 for Students/Seniors. Open seating. Plan early; this show is sure to sell out!!

FoodSafe Certificates
If you were in Ms Yager’s foods class last semester, your FoodSafe certificate is now in the foods office. Please come pick it up.

CLUBS
YCI - Warm Clothes for Cold People Clothing Drive
Thank you to all who supported the book drive. It was a huge success!
Members of YCI are now sponsoring a warm clothing drive for downtown Victoria shelters. Please bring in gently used or new coats, scarves, gloves, hoodies, footwear etc to the bin outside the front of the office.

Basketball
Wow - what a weekend of Bball for Claremont!!  We had 3 teams at Islands this past weekend, finishing with a first, a second, and a third.
Jr Boys are Island Champs,
Jr Girls placed 2nd,, winning a berth to the Provincial Championships. Charlotte Westhaver and Kate Brooks were named Tournament All-Stars for Claremont. 
Sr Girls lost the the semi-final but won both games big on Saturday to come 3rd and stay alive.
Two, maybe all 3, teams will be going to the BC’s.   No other school is sending 3 to BCs.   Go Spartans!!

Class Afloat 2019-2020

Grads: if you had grad re-takes done in January, the proofs have arrived!!  Please come to the office to pick them up.

RE/MAX Quest For Excellence Bursaries
This year RE/MAX is once again offering (16) $1,000 bursaries for a total of $16,000 to grade 12 students. This program was established by RE/MAX of Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and community contribution initiatives. Only online entries will be accepted; students enter online at www.remax.ca.  Deadline for submissions for the 2019 Quest for Excellence program is midnight March 11th.

Magic Wand Project
The Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux,  (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge).  All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included.  Any student is eligible. COMMUNITY NEWS
Financial Independence Talk - Feb. 21
Andrew Hallam, author of ‘Millionaire Teacher,’ will be speaking about his methods for personal financial planning and financial independence on THURSDAY Feb. 21, 7:30 pm at Claremont’s Ridge Theatre.  Tickets are available at andrewhallam.com or www.eventbrite.com.   $15 advance; $20 at the door. All proceeds from this talk go towards the Island Fire Football Assn 2005 boys soccer team, as they raise money to travel to Sweden to represent Canada at the world’s largest youth soccer tournament, the Gothia Cup.

Vancouver Island Parent Conference – March 2
The Vancouver Island Parent Conference has been putting on world-class parenting conferences for over 10 years, bringing together attendees from across BC. This year’s conference theme is “Change: It’s Here to Stay” and features keynotes by Alyson Schafer and Ann Douglas. Come enjoy a day of connecting with other parents over important, of-the-moment issues. Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
