GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Grade 12 Blood Drive
All grade 12 students interested in donating blood: please come to an Information meeting and sign up TODAY at lunch in room 136 with Ms Chapman. Let’s roll up our sleeves, Claremont, and donate to the Canadian Blood Services. Each unit of blood collected can save 3 lives. Donors must be 17yrs or older to donate.
CLC Meeting Today
A reminder to all those CLC 12 ‘B’ students (with the last name A - L) that have either Mrs. Marshall or Mr. Buckham as their teacher: you have a meeting TODAY at lunch in the theatre.
NEW Claremont Masks For Sale
If students like the look and fit of the navy blue cloth masks they were issued at the start of the year, we now have the very same masks (same quality & design, made by Stormtech) with the Claremont Spartan logo for sale. They come in either black or navy. 2 for $15 at the Accounting office. These are great for students and parents!
Toys for Teens: Dec 3-9
The 8th annual "Toys For Teens Donation Drive" starts THIS THURSDAY and runs Dec. 3-9. Claremont donates Gift Cards for Teens in Need in our community in support of The Zone 91.3's annual Toy Drive. Our donations are shared by numerous local agencies such as 1UP Single Parent Resource Centre, CFAX Santas Anonymous, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, The Mustard Seed and many more under the umbrella of "The Christmas Giving Network."
We are asking for $10 Gift Cards that Teens would like for: coffee shops, restaurants, music, grocery stores, drug stores, retail locations, bus passes, pre-paid credit cards, etc. Cash donations will also be accepted. Students are encouraged to bring their donations to their Block 1 class (or the front office if they do not have a Block 1 class). Thank you for your support of this great cause and for sharing the Spartan Spirit. Happy Holidays!
Lost and Found
Yet another girl’s ring was found in the school this morning. Now there are 4 pretty rings and 2 bracelets ready to be claimed in the office.
Morning Breaktime Food Service
Reminder that the Spartan Store is open for breakfast and snack service 10:00-11:00 every morning, with reasonably-priced hot drinks and morning treats. Cash or lunch cards only (lunch cards can be bought from the Accounting office for $5 or $10).
After School Homework Club
Reminder: for all students who would like extra help in Math, English, Science or Social Studies: help from Education Assistants is available on TUESDAYS and WEDNESDAYS 3:00-4:00 after school in room 235 (computer lab). All students in all grades are welcome. Please wear a mask.
ATHLETICS
‘COVID CUP’ Intramural Indoor Soccer
Intramural indoor soccer starts THIS WEDNESDAY. We have both a Junior division and a Senior division. Please check the school website and/or the posters near the gym and around the school to see what team you are and your schedule of games. Games will be played for the next 3 weeks, and finals will be held prior to the winter break.
WEDNESDAY Dec 2: all those registered for Junior teams will play.
THURSDAY Dec 3: all those registered for Senior action will play.
Note:
-teams are outside of cohorts, so MASKS MUST BE WORN.
-PROPER FOOTWEAR and strip are needed.
-teams waiting to play are allowed in the gym. NO other spectators.
-games start at 11:55 each lunch hour!!

CLUBS
YCI: Winter Clothing/Backpack Drive
YCI Club is supporting the ‘Home is Where the Heart Is’ Backpack Drive! Home is Where the Heart Is Foundation is an adolescent-driven foundation who are raising awareness about the homelessness crisis and supporting those in need. For the Backpack Drive, we are collecting:
*warm clothing (toques, mitts/gloves, scarfs, socks)
*backpacks
*hygiene products (shampoo, soap, body wash, lip balm, toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream, tissue packs, feminine hygiene products, small makeup items)
*non-perishable snacks (granola bars, trail mix, raisins, beef jerky, candy, gum).
All donations will be packed by members of the Home is Where the Heart is Foundation and, in working with Our Place Society, the items will be distributed to people in need. Donation bins are at the front office. Collection runs until December 18. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

Canadian Coast Guard College – Virtual Presentation – Dec. 10
Register for a virtual presentation hosted by the Canadian Coast Guard College, "Discover the Officer Training Program." The four-year Officer Training Program is one of the best marine training programs in the world, producing both Marine Engineering Officers and Marine Navigation Officers. Graduates of the CCGC receive a Canadian Coast Guard College Diploma, a Bachelor of Technology in Nautical Sciences, a Commercial Certification issued by Transport Canada, continued employment with the Canadian Coast Guard, and internationally recognized certification.

UBC's Faculty of Medicine: Virtual Outreach Presentation – Dec 8
The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine is excited to provide their Medical Student Outreach Ambassador Program. The Faculty of Medicine plays a pivotal role in selecting and training medical doctors in British Columbia and wants to inform students about possible future careers in medicine. You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service. Peninsula Youth Clinic
Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor. To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.
Foundry Youth Clinic
Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
