GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Unicef Boxes & Food Drive
Help children all over the world! Please donate spare change from now until Halloween into the UNICEF boxes found in all classrooms. Every little bit can add up!

The Free the Children group is also helping to take on this issue of hunger in our communities by holding an IN CLASS Block 2 can drive. This can drive will be a competition between all classes to see which class can donate the most cans. The prize is a pizza lunch and all the donated cans will go to the local food bank.

Bake Sale
The IGS students will be selling baked treats on THURSDAY at lunch in the lounge to raise funds for their train trip to Ottawa.  Feed your sweet tooth and support a good cause.

Club Happiness
There is a meeting for Club Happiness TODAY and FRIDAY at lunch in the art room.

Anime Club
There is a meeting for the Anime Club TODAY at lunch in room 136.

Blackout Dance
Tickets for Thursday night's BLACKOUT DANCE are on sale TODAY at lunch outside the theatre for only $5.  Wear all black and come ready to bust a move.

School Photos
If you did not pick up your school photos and student ID cards, they are now available in the office for pickup.  Retake Day is on November 12th.

5 on 5 Soccer Extravaganza
This THURSDAY, the IGS class will be hosting a 5 on 5 soccer tourney after school to raise funds for their trip to Ottawa.  Forget the World Cup – this is the Spartan Cup. This is a chance for the Brazilian, Mexican, and Spanish students to back up their trash talk with some action.  There will be food, face painting, awesome music, great prizes, and hopefully lots of rain and mud. So what are you waiting for?  Get five friends together and sign up outside of Room 264 by this WEDNESDAY. Admission is only 5 bucks per player. DO IT!

Peer Tutoring
This is a reminder to all students that each TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY there is Peer Tutoring help for Math and Science courses in Mr. Belvedere's room 134 at the start of lunch. Please attend if you would benefit from free tutoring.

Food Services
This is a reminder of the lunch food services for the rest of the week:
TODAY:  will be Stelly's Culinary Arts Sandwiches.
THURSDAY: the PIG Food Truck will be here.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Halloween Week
Student Government has some fun Halloween events planned for the whole week. Come join the fun each day, or just come to watch.
TODAY - Come check out the Pie Eating Contest at lunch in the lounge.
THURSDAY - Come be a part of the Mummy Wrap contest at lunch in the lounge.
FRIDAY – There will be a Costume Contest at lunch in the Big Gym. Everyone can enter the contest! Just show up and join in.

The top 4 teams will begin playoff games tomorrow. Teams should check final standings at the end of today's games.

Basketball
If you are interested in playing basketball this season, the following are the dates for practice and tryouts:
Junior Girls – TODAY after school.
Junior Boys and Senior Girls – TODAY at 5:20
Senior Boys – there is a meeting TODAY at lunch in small gym
For all practice/tryouts, it is very important that you attend or communicate to your coach if you can not attend.

CAREER CENTRE
UVic "Student for a Day"
Have you applied to UVic?  If so, you should check out the "Student for a Day" opportunity!  UVic is hosting Grade 12 students who have registered to attend UVic to experience UVic for a day. This program is free of charge and includes parking and a complimentary lunch. Go to www.uvic.ca/tours to register!

Marine Service Technician & HairDressing Programs
The Marine Service Technician Program at Parkland and the Hair Dressing Program at ILC are accepting applications for their February intakes. See Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre for more information on these great opportunities!
