Cops 4 Cancer Fundraising
Our first House competition continues in Block 4 classes. Please donate $4 in support of Cops 4 Cancer. Fundraising will end on October 1, which is our first SPARTAN DAY! Wear your House Colours, bracelets, and join in on the Spirit events.
Bake Sale – Cops 4 Cancer
There will be a bake sale this FRIDAY at lunch in the student lounge, to help raise funds to support Cops 4 Cancer. All yummy items will be a minimum donation of $1. Bring your sweet tooth and come show your support for a great cause.
Pursuit of Excellence All Grades Meeting
The first Pursuit of Excellence All Grades Meeting is on MONDAY, Sept. 28th at lunch in the Learning Commons. It is a mandatory meeting for all PEP students.

Parks Canada needs volunteers for The Garry Oak Ecosystem Restoration at Fort Rodd Hill! Learn about Garry Oak ecosystems, build your resumé and enjoy the outdoors! Saturdays 10am-3pm. Pizza lunch and juice is provided.
Halloween Spooky Volunteer Opportunity – Build Your Volunteer Hours
Vancouver Island Model Engineer Society is presenting a Family Friendly Halloween Event...The Pumpkin Express! Event dates are October 23, 24, 25 from 4-9pm. They need help with the preparation for this event (building scarecrows, decorating the forest areas the train runs through etc.) as well as volunteering during the event with supervision of craft tables, train track crossings, pumpkin carvings, haunted story walks, scavenger hunt in the grave yard and face painting. The first opportunity to volunteer is the Scarecrow building work party on Sept. 26 & 27 12:00 pm till 4 pm at the Historical Society/ VIME grounds on Lochside Drive at Island View. Women In Construction
Join Women in Construction for a night of discussion next WEDNESDAY Sept 30th 6:00 - 8:30 pm with Kate Braid, one of the first qualified women carpenters in British Columbia; the first woman to join the Vancouver local of the Carpenter's Union; the first to teach construction full-time at BCIT; and one of the first women to run her own construction company. There is no charge for those attending this event, but registration is required at wic@vicabc.ca. See Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Centre for more information.
2015 Imagining Possibilities Conference
"Soroptimist" (Best for Women) Presents a one-day Conference for Young Women Monday, October 26th, from 9 am to 3 pm at the Songhees Wellness Centre, 100 Admirals Rd. There will be workshops and exhibits for young women ages 15-24. Volunteer opportunities are also available. Pick up an information brochures in the Career Centre!
Hair Models Needed
Saanich School District's Teaching Salon needs hair models. On Monday, November 2nd from 8:30-1 get a FREE cut, colour and “up-do!” Lunch will be provided. The salon is looking for students with long hair who don't mind having layers put in. Please contact your Career Counsellor ASAP if you are interested!

Interested in attending university in Eastern Canada? Come to the student lounge this FRIDAY at lunch, to see an Acadia University enrolment advisor. There will be on-the-spot application forms available, and the application fee will be waived.

SAT's and ACT
Are you planning to write either the SAT or ACT this year as part of a university application? Not sure of the difference, or which one to write to get the best score for college admission? St. Michael's University is offering a Start-Up exam to show the difference between the two this SATURDAY, Sept. 26 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. There is a $20 cost for the exam.
