LUNCH MEETINGS TODAY
YCI Meeting
Youth for Change and Inclusion meets TODAY at lunch in room 320, Ms GC's room.  Everyone is welcome.  We will be making plans for our fall events, and discussing Friday's Motivational Day at Mt Doug.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Camosun College ChatterHigh AA Competition
There are only 3 days left for the Camosun College AA Competition!  Camosun College is providing a prize pot of $2250 for this competition running until Oct 23rd!   Log on to ChatterHigh and help to win $$$ for Claremont and at the same time collect points to win stuff for yourself!!  Good luck!

Key Club - UNICEF
Do you want to help children all over the world? Of course you do! Please donate any spare change from now until Halloween into the UNICEF boxes found in all your teachers' classrooms. Every little bit can add up to a lot!

London, England – Spring Break 2016
Do you want to go to London at Spring Break?  Mr. Plant will be holding another recruitment meeting this THURSDAY at lunch in the theatre.  This trip is going to happen during Spring Break and will be 9 days in duration.  If you are interested but cannot attend, see Mr. Plant ASAP.

Motivational Day
Youth for Change and Inclusion is hosting a free "Motivational Day" this FRIDAY Oct 23 from 8:30-3:30, with speakers, activities and food at Mount Doug. The day is designed to expose teenagers to topics like social activism using art, and mental health and homelessness in Victoria. There will be opportunities to see how you can get involved in these issues at school and in your community. Look for posters around the school; you can also ask Ms Gaudet or Ms G-C about this event, and you can register for the event on eventbrite.ca

School Bus Passes
There are still many school bus passes in the office, needing to be picked up. 

School Photos -  Retake Day
Photo Retake Day is TOMORROW, Wednesday Oct 21, starting at 9:00 in the Learning Commons.  If students plan to get retakes, they must bring the full photo package they received with them on retake day and hand it to the photographer. Every student in every grade needs to have a photo taken for school ID purposes, and this will be the last opportunity to get a photo for the yearbook.  Also, there are still many photos and student ID cards in the office, waiting to be picked up by students.

ATHLETICS
Swim Team
Claremont School Swim Team:  there is an important meeting on WEDNESDAY, Oct. 21 at lunch in the small gym.  If you are not at this meeting, you will not be entered in the Island Championships on November 1st. 

Basketball tryouts this week
Senior Boys - TONIGHT 7:00-9:00 pm in the main gym, and possibly THURSDAY 7:00-9:00 pm in the small gym and SUNDAY at a time TBA.
Junior Boys - TONIGHT 7:00-9:00 pm in the small gym and THURSDAY 7:00-9:00 pm in main gym, possibly THURSDAY from 5:30-7:00 pm.
Girls bball - all girls WEDNESDAY from 6:30-8:15pm

Employment Opportunity
Pacific Coast Swimming is looking for someone with a passion for teaching swimming to youngsters.  Mon/Wed/Fri 3:30-5:45 at Panorama Rec. Centre. *A criminal record check will be required. Please visit the Career Centre for more details!

First Aid Course
'ALERT' Emergency First Aid Training with CPR and AED -  this course is being offered on Thursday, November 12 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney (this is a Pro-D day). Cost is $50 payable, in cash, cheque or credit card. More information in Career Centre.

House of Commons Page Program
Planning to start university next year?  Do you speak both official languages?  Are you interested in the work of Parliament?  Become a House of Commons Page!  Pages are contracted to work at the House of Commons for one year, beginning in late-August 2016.  Their work schedule is a minimum of 15 hours per week that will be coordinated with their university schedule!  Get paid to watch all the action and aid in the processes on Parliament Hill in Ottawa! An overall academic average of 80% is required. Application deadline for the 2016/2017  HOC Page Program is Monday, December 7, 2015.  Please see Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Office for more information!

Grad Portraits
Grads, this THURSDAY is that last day for appointments to have grad portraits taken.  If you haven't booked your photo shoot, you need to book your appointment NOW by going onto the Lifetouch website:  www.lifetouch.ca/victoria.  Photo brochures are available in the office.
