Take Our Kids to Work Day
Any grade 9 students who did not receive a consent form from Mr. Arsenault last week, but want to participate in Take Our Kids to Work Day, can pick one up in the Career Centre. Reminder that forms must be returned by this THURSDAY Oct. 29th!!

Peer Tuturing
Peer Tutoring drop-in sessions will now be held in the Learning Commons on TUESDAYS and WEDNESDAYS at lunch and not in room 134.  Tuesdays: there is tutoring in Math and Science.  Wednesdays: there is tutoring for Math, Science, English and Socials. Tutors look forward to working with you!

Key Club - UNICEF
Reminder to please donate any spare change from now until Halloween into the UNICEF boxes found in all your teachers' classrooms. Every little bit can add up to a lot to help children all over the world.

School Bus Passes
There are still many school bus passes in the office, needing to be picked up. 

Halloween Week
Students Government has fun activities planned this week to get us into the Halloween spirit!!  For the events in the lounge at lunch, everyone is welcome to participate or to join the fun by being a spectator!

TUESDAY ~~ Mummy-Wrap competition in the lounge at lunch.
WEDNESDAY ~~ Pie-eating contest in the lounge at lunch.
THURSDAY ~~ Pumpkin carving in the lounge at lunch.
FRIDAY ~~ Wear a costume and join the costume parade at lunch!

Basketball tryouts this week
Junior Boys - WEDNESDAY 7:00-9:00 pm in main gym (possibly THURSDAY as well)
Senior Boys - WEDNESDAY 5:30-7:00 pm in main gym and THURSDAY from 7:00-9:00 pm
Girls bball - TUESDAY from 6:30-8:15 pm in main gym

Jr. Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to the Claremont Jr. Boys volleyball team who won the Spartan Invitational Tournament this past weekend. The semi final was an epic battle where Claremont defeated Pacific Christian 25-21, 32-30.  In the final, the Spartans won 26-24, 25-15 over Reynolds.

Sr Boys soccer
Sr Boys Soccer players:  there is a very important meeting on TUESDAY at lunch in the main gym to discuss the upcoming schedule and Island championships. 

Jr Boys Soccer
Congrats to the jr boys soccer team as they finished their season last week, losing to a very good team from Mt Doug in the city playoffs.  Special note to Keegan Neary, Shak Nasim, and Gareth Sander on an excellent season(s).  Thanks to all players for their efforts and commitment.

Job Opportunity
Person to provide light housework is required 2-3 hours at $11.00/hr. Location is on East Saanich Road.  This may become monthly ongoing work.  Contact Beacon Community Services or see Mrs. Rhodes in the Carere Centre.

Free Retail Training
This is a certificate program that prepares you for first-time work experiences in retail and many other work environments. Training will include: working on a cash register/counting cash, Customer Service, creating displays, pricing and more!   Classes are 9:30 am -4:00 pm four Sundays in a row.

First Aid with CPR and AED Training
Alert First-Aid next session is on Thursday, November 12 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney.  Cost is $50.00 payable in cash, cheque or credit card.  For more information please visit the Career Centre.

GRAD 2016
Grad Photos – sitting fee payment
A number of grads had their grad portraits taken over the past few weeks and have not paid Lifetouch the $25 sitting fee yet.  Please make sure you send payment directly to the Lifetouch studio as soon as possible, or you will not receive your grad proofs on time (#104-1740 Old Island Hwy).  Cheques are payable to Lifetouch Canada.

Vancouver Trip
For all international students:  the day trip to Vancouver is November 19th.  Please pick up the field trip permission form from Brenda.  Permission forms are due November 5th.
