GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dropping a Semester 1 Class?

The last day for students to drop a semester 1 course is FRIDAY December 22nd.  Forms are available in the Career Centre.  After Dec. 22, students will not be allowed to drop a Semester 1 class.

Music Winter Cafe
Claremont's Annual Music Winter Cafe is coming next WEDNESDAY December 13th in the Learning Commons at 6pm.  Anyone interested in performing: come see Mrs. English this week.

A Midsummer Night's Dream – Opens This Week
Claremont Secondary's Block 3 Year-Long Drama class presents this modern take on William Shakespeare's classic comedy, “A Midsummer Night's Dream.”. Set in a children's playground and based on characters you would find in a school, this classic comedy has been adapted and edited to make it even more accessible for modern audiences, while keeping the vast majority of Shakespeare's beautiful language.  Featuring a cast of 25 students in grades 9-12, this production is being performed on Dec 7-9 and Dec 13-16 nightly at 7:30pm. New Bus Passes – Important Message
The School District Bus Department wishes to advise students of an important message: students must NOT put holes in their bus passes or alter the cards in any way.  The new scanners have already experienced cards that do not work as a result.

It's Cold Season
Please be mindful that during cold season it is important to get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, and wash your hands often.  Situated throughout the school are hand sanitizer stations; please take advantage of these stations and keep your hands clean. 

Toys 4 Teens
The 5th annual Toys 4 Teens Donation Drive is underway, running every day until December 12. Please donate $10 gift cards for Teens in Need in your Block 2 class. A few ideas include gift cards for: music, books, coffee shops, movies, clothing, sporting goods, cosmetics, etc.  There are lots of good ideas out there! The winning class will attend the wrap-up event at Mayfair Mall on Dec. 15. Our school goal is 1000 gift cards. This event is in collaboration with the Zone's Annual Toy Drive.  Go Spartans!

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Christmas Lip-Sync Battle

Student Government will be hosting a festive lip-sync battle at lunch on TUESDAY December 19th.  The sign-up sheet is on the theatre door.

CLUBS
YCI - Warm Clothes for Cold People

Today is the start of Warm Clothes for Cold People!  YCI is looking for anyone and everyone to donate new or gently used warm clothing to the Out of the Rain Youth Shelter.  Useful items include: clean, warm socks, sleeping bags, hoodies, t-shirts, warm jackets, toques, and gloves. Look for the collection bins in front of the office.

Key Club – Let's Get Festive!!
If you would like your locker (or your friend's locker) Xmas wrapped, head over to the Key Club table this week to place your order: the table will be set up TODAY, THURSDAY and FRIDAY at lunch in the lounge. Lockers are $2.

VEX Robotics Meeting
VEX Robotics Club has a meeting TODAY at lunch.  All members must attend.

ATHLETICS
Junior Girls "B" Basketball

Junior Girls "B" Basketball team: there is a meeting TODAY at lunch in the small gym, to arrange rides to our 4:15 pm game at Spectrum.

CAREER CENTRE
Training/Job Opportunity

The Beachhouse Restaurant is looking for students who are wanting to gain some work experience hours through training, and possibly work towards a part-time job. Come to the Career Centre if you are interested!

Basics of Finance - Free Training
New Basics of Finance training course! You will learn all about credit cards, pre-paid cards and loans, the advantages and disadvantages, what to look for and how to calculate the “real” cost of a loan. Saturday January 27th 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney.  More information in the Career Centre.

Winter Gala Tickets

Grads, if you are attending the Winter Gala, please come to the office to pick up your ticket TODAY.

Grad Transition
Grade 12s:  give yourself the gift of a completed Grad Transition!!!  Congratulations to the almost 40 students who have already submitted their GT!!   Pick up you GT forms from the Career Centre and get it done!  Graduation Transition is a Grad Requirement.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Travel Applications

For all International students: Overnight and Day Travel applications are due WEDNESDAY December 13th.  Please  hand them into Brenda
